Retraining / Racial class substitution levels [Archive] - Wizards Community

One of my PCs is in a metaorganization that will recently be revised to offer elven wizard racial class substitution levels. I will likely wish to gain the 1st level substitution.

I expect that since my PC is no longer brand new, this will involve a retrain option. Is this correct?

My next question is if my PC would gain an additional spell into his spellbook, retroactively, for each of his levels, as the elven wizard substitution allows elven generalists to learn an extra spell each level as they advance.

In order, I'd say yes it requires retraining and no you don't get the spellbook spells retroactively.

They "got past the circle" by having the circle allow individual regions to allow racial substitutions and alternate class abilities through meta-orgs. This occured sometime earlier this year and the mid-year meta-org corrections have been incorporating these new ways of getting access.

Check with your local Triad to see what they have elected to do with your local meta-orgs.

I think he specifically meant the elven wizard racial level. The other elven racial levels are fairly easy to get, but elven wizard hasn't been available anywhere as far as most people know.

Just in Veluna we have all gnome racial levels available, all dwarf racial levels available, and all elf racial levels except elven wizard available.

07-05-07, 12:30 PM i did mean the Elven Wizard generalist specifically. It's more powerful than I'd have expected to be allowed.

I asked which Region because I have an Elf Wizard who got angry with the local metaorg when they yanked his crafting access and is vaguely thinking of looking for another association somewhere else ..doubt I can get to play the Regionals though ..except perhaps for a few in Sunndi

My poor snow elf geometer is a generalist. Being stuck in a non-triad controlled region is two strikes against gaining access to the racial sub. It is still possible, I just don't expect it.

Can't you just have the character "move" into a new region? I thought I saw something about that in the LGCS (sorry, I don't have access to it at the moment). You just spend extra TUs or something?

07-10-07, 08:31 PM You can still ask for a special mission from the local triad at your physical location even if your character's region is from another area. Special Missions count as regionals, but make no mention of having participants be from the same region.

07-11-07, 04:13 AM Snow Elves must keep the Crystalmist Mountains as their home region.I was under the impression that Snow Elves must have Crystal Mountains as their home region at character creation but could change their home region freely at the start of a new calendar year, just like any other character.

Note that you still need to have the campaign card, and it takes up a campaign card slot that you could have used for another card.

That is incorrect. As stated several times, you cannot change your home region form the crystalmists.
