Retraining Correctly [Archive] - Wizards Community

I just want to make sure I understand training correctly before I submit an improper move.

I have a Lvl 4 Cleric (of YurMomma) with one good domain (War...I like) and one foolishly chosen domain (I think it's something like "Spelllist for people who like to avoid doing anything").

Anyhoot, I want to train one domain to something good.

In theory, the PHII says that changing a domain is a class feature and the time to retrain that is 1 week/2 levels (based on the original level at which the class feature or sub level is changed) and 500gp a week.

So...since I choose this domain at 1st level, does that mean my costs are 1 week (and 1 TU) and 500gp?

08-09-07, 12:45 AM I think the rules can be found in the LGCS. In any event, it will cost you 4 TU and 100gp x your current level. So in your case 4 TU and 400 gold.

Yes, the LGCS does overide the normal retraining cost and time expendiature. Any type of retraining costs 4 TUs and your new level x100gp. If the character is 4th he can't retrain until leveling to 5th, at that point retraining will cost 4TUs and 500g.

08-09-07, 09:02 AM You know, not all domains are about spell lists. If the power is particularly good, it's worth sucking up the lousy spell list (for instance Inquisition domain). That said, retraining can only happen when you level (before you level, and you have to qualify for PrC. feats. etc. you will be taking with the new level without any of the retraining changes) and the cost is 4 TU and (new level)x100gp.
