I am currently going thru rhod with a character with leadership after just finishing the first part. Now my cohort isn't going thru it. My question is this, assuming I gain multiple levels when I finish it, my cohort would then get rebalanced to my level, if it also gained multiple levels under the new lgcs it would be availible to do mulitiple rebuilds (one for every level it gained) how would/should that be shown on it's next ar?

I was thinking of just doing the simpler thing and dismissing it and building a new cohort under the lgcs rules for next year, however if I don't I was wondering how this should be done.

You would get retraining not "rebuilds". there are rules for both in PHB2 and we are only allowed the former.

Dismissing a cohort is problematic because it hurts your Leadership Score. However you could retrain Leadership off your PC and then retrain it back at a later level and recruit a new cohort that way. This approach assumes that you will have at least two levels at which you won't want to use your PC retraining opportunity for something else.

I'm not sure how you would handle the retraining otherwise.

Right Retrain not rebuild I knew that (just got the whole verbage wrong)

I don't plan on retraining out of leadership I have other plans then that. Howerver as to the hits on my leadership score I can afford to take a few. I am playing a 8th sorc with 22 (after Magic item) chr, with great renown (got it off of a ar) and a familiar putting my leadership score at 14 (8 base +6 chr +2 great reknown -2 familiar). That would enable me to take a lvl 10 cohort if I was high enough. So I can afford to lose the -1 to my leadership score for dismissing the cohort (adn really the other cost are pretty minimal).

I don't see where you are getting that you would take a penalty for dismissing your cohort. There is nothing in the SRD about it...

LGCS rules. CY596 version just had it as a penalty from being "fickle" if you were to dismiss a cohort to get another. Same -1 in the CY597 version, but is there for "aloofness".

Didn't mean to sound petty on the rertaining v rebuilding thing ..just trying to make sure people don't pick up the wrong impression

Np. I really just want to know if the cohort gets multi-leveled thanks to any number of reasons (deaths, huge mod, just not using it for many adventures) is retrainining multiple times availible for it( and how it would get shown?)? Someone suggested that the cohort might not even get retraining since it just gets it's level adjusted to the appropriate level. (not sure how that is supposed to work with cohorts).
