IIRC, the Greyhawk Gazateer states that Rhennee never teach their language to outsiders. |
| Fleetfang02-08-07, 03:26 PM | I have to applaud the Circle for this change. It has ALWAYS bothered me that there was no restriction on who could learn Rhopan. Both the gazetteer and the LG Journal both have mentioned this quirk of the race before, but the game in action never supported it. I think it's great that the crunch is catching up to the fluff! |

It makes less sense if the character you are creating is a mixed blood human wharf rat who grew up running wild in Dyver's Drown Town where something between two thirds and three quarters of the population is full-blooded Rhenee. | TheMagus02-08-07, 03:44 PM | Your lucky we didn't make Rhennee unable to be divine casters ;) Oh, you can be a divine caster as a Rhennee... Druid works just fine... Cleric? Well Rhennee social status goes like this: 1) Rhennee 2) Attloi (who, horror of horrors, live and travel on land) 3) Every other humanoid in the Prime Material plane 4) ex-Rhennee who have taken up the worship of *shudder* deities. | Fleetfang02-08-07, 03:45 PM | In your case, I'd suggest talking to the Dyvers Triad about including access to the language in Dyvers metaorgs. Seems like a perfectly reasonable request, not outside the realm of possibility... But hey, if it's that important to you, then why isn't your PC a Rhennee? Sorry, but they're reclusive and distrustful of outsiders. If you're an outsider, well, hey, they just speak Common to you. It IS a trade language after all. And if you're not comfortable with that, then hey, I don't think the Rhennee people care! ;) Gypsies of Greyhawk unite! |
| TheMagus02-08-07, 03:53 PM | Actually, one of my characters is a Rhennee Bard. :) The only character I have that would have been affected by the change is my retired Dread Pirate, so its no skin off my nose. I'm sure the Triad will work something out. |

David He either grew up with the Rhenee (and is thus considered full Rhenee by them) or he didn't, and thus wouldn't be taught the language... And you've got a RP issue anyway in that Rhenee almost never breed with non-Rhenee... |
| Japangirl02-08-07, 05:51 PM | Except for a certain half elf, half-Rhennee bard running around. That's a little more breeding with "outsiders" than just going with a different race of human. |

And, if people really wanted to stay with the world as written, there would be a lot less. Rhenee are xenophobic and dismissive of non-Rhenee, it's always been that way. |
