07-20-06, 09:32 PM I would think the LCGS should be correct, especially if the module is older than it. If the module is one of the latest, then email the RPGA Circle and ask them.

Sorry.. in calculating the level adjustment for calculating the APL when bringing in animals not tied to one's class/feats.

For example, say you have a CR 3 animal and a CR 4 animal, what level do you add to your character for determining the APL?

Is it:
Boilerplate> adding the two bumps separately (ie 7 in this case)
LGCS> figure out the highest level bump for the given CRs then add 2.

The LGCS version was changed from the BoilerPlate version like last year. This was (as far as I understand it) because going by the boilerplate version if you were to bring 2 CR 4 animals into a mod instead of the weaker pair above you would add 6 levels (rather than 7).. which is somewhat silly.

The LGCS does a quick fix for this problem, so I would think that would be the case. However the latest boilerplate is subsequent to the change in the LGCS, but prior to the last LGCS. I am thus confused as to which one is correct.

Assuming the LGCS is the correct one, do we ignore the (incorrect) boilerplate or do we need to use those rules for the modules that have them listed that way? It seems strange to ask, but we have been asked to run modules 'as is' despite errors in them before (though I never was quite sure as to why).

07-24-06, 04:27 AM It is not a strange question. Somehow the old boiler plate text was used, and there is an additional error in there (the one about always rounding up, which should be rounding to the nearest whole number with .5 being rounded up). The boiler plate thing is certainly something we need to work on as a Circle... Use the LGCS for now. I will have a chat with my fellow Circle members on this specific subject.

I can give examples if needed.

07-24-06, 04:51 PM whichever one is the most recent would be my answer. reason being is that with the spell compendium there were updates on spells and such and we used those. so if its a new FAQ entry then go with that one.
