rogerd 03-16-06, 12:27 PM	The LGCS seems to override the core rules for magic item creation. You can use a scrolled spell to satisfy the spell requirements, but you must use one scroll for every day of the creation process. This raises a couple of questions: If you are a cleric with the Magic domain can you use a Wizard scroll to craft an item? Can you use UMD to use a scroll to satisfy a spell requirement? I don't understand the purpose of the "scrolled spell" clause, and I would prefer to see it dropped in the next revision of the LGCS. Maybe someone can enlighten me? Roger
Mommy was an Orc 03-16-06, 01:20 PM	It is core rules to be able to use a spell completion or spell trigger item to enchant an item. 2nd paragraph of Prerequisites on page 215 of DMG. If you can read the scroll, you can create the item - so yes, a Cleric with the Magic Domain or someone with a high enough UMD score could do it. The purpose of this is that classes with low numbers of spells known can actually take the item enchantment feats. As an example, my Bard just crafted a Circlet of Persuasion - he can't afford to waste a spell known on Eagle's Splendor, but buying 5 scrolls of it wasn't that expensive...
rogerd 03-16-06, 03:05 PM	Thanks for the reference Mommy. I had skimmed the DMG, but back in pp. 282-288. The specific text for Create Wondrous Items (p.288) was what confused me. I guess instead of being contradictory, the referenced text is merely redundant. :) Roger
