Scrolls of Open spells are not Open correct? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I do not know what the intent of the LGCS was but the text is very clear.

"...Any DMG item of an Open spell with a market price of 750 GP or less from Tables 7-17, 7-23, 7-24, and 7-26."

So while spells from the SpC may be open....they are NOT open with regards to buying a scroll or wand.

Correct?

04-16-07, 05:27 PM Sounds right to me. A sorceror or mage could choose one of these open spells at level up time, but getting them into your spellbook would be slightly harder as it would rely on finding access to a scroll. It does sound like something that would be available using the retraining rules however.

You can scribe scrolls, craft wands, and brew potions for spells you can cast.

So, the Item Creation feats give a slight advantage that I see, in that you get access to a few more items (depending on class). That would cover two items that I would love to have at low APLs.

Wand of Mage Armor (Open Spell from PHB, not in DMG)
Scroll of Lesser Vigor (Open Spell from SpC, not in DMG)

ok, one has to pay the difference of gp for ALL crafted wands BUT the wands are still there,

i would assume (and my clerics would be delighted to have):

4 wands of "restoration, lesser"
2 wands of "resurgence"
1 wand of "helathfull rest"
1 wand of "scolar's touch"
