Skis and Poles [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-23-06, 02:31 AM I would like to know what the offical ruling is on Skis and Poles for the LG campagin. It says Skis allow full movement along snow covered terrian, but it does not make any implications about combat. I played in a game the other night where a troll had skis and he was moving all around the battlefield rendering folks and going after casters while the tanks in the group were stuck at a speed of 10 feet and no five foot steps. So... because it is not written, was it assumed to people would all agree that it is extremely difficult to fight on skis, or is it allowed?

I know using "real" life as an example to D&D can be tiresome, but I have to make it. I have gone skiing many times and on flat surfaces it is extremly difficult to move around. Also there are tons of balance issues if one were to fight on skis... Anyways sorry for ranting. Thanks in advance for any info.

Special access on an AR or something?Yes; I have a set myself (although I couldn't say whether the access is from the same source as Daverius)... It's amazing what you'll buy to be prepared for any contigency, esp. when you have a Handy Haversack! ;)
