For example if you have access to a +2 chain shirt and separate mithral access you can use both together to get a +2 mithral chain shirt. Hope this all makes sense .. |
| Britt11-27-06, 06:16 PM | As long as the weapon is a "standard" masterwork weapon, it can be enchanted normally. (LGCS p17) So if you have access to a great falchion, you can get a +1 great falchion. I'm pretty sure access to a weapon/armor includes the masterwork variety. I know there has been confusion on this and some ARs include MW specifically, but I think that's just to avoid any confusion. |

Ok .. that makes great Falchions, thinblades and other non PHB weapons that usually require feats to use ... infinitely more useful. Hopefully the LGCS will eventually clarify these issues as they come up a lot. |

| Britt11-27-06, 06:55 PM | No, they wouldn't stack, and I don't think there are any other SR abilities. I think there are some affinity abilities in the D2 though. But the price isn't worth it at all. |

At the bottom of LGCS p17 and continuing on to p18: "Characters cannot purchase masterwork versions of weapons and armor not listed in the PH unless they are specifically named as masterwork on the adventure record." There was quite a bit of confusion. This was the resolution with LGCS 596: if it doesn't specify masterwork, you cannot purchase masterwork. As for sandstorm items, I've got a little voice in the back of my head saying that bright sands characters treat items from sandstorm as if they are PH items, but I can't find it in the Blight on Bright Sands Sourcebook or elsewhere; I'm not sure if it's correct. | Britt11-27-06, 07:02 PM | Ahh, thank you for the reference. |
| Japangirl11-27-06, 08:37 PM | SR goes up past 13 on armor. You can get 15, 17, and 19 varieties too, if you get access. However, SR is a mixed blessing and more likely to prevent buffs and heals from reaching you than an enemy spellcaster from hurting you. |

David Considering that even if you get access to say an Elven Thinblade as masterwork its likely to be adventure only (and hence irreplacable if sundered) .. and you need to invest several feats to effectively use the items .. it really is rather pointless these items being on an AR at all :) |

| clannagh11-27-06, 10:20 PM | or he lost them the Bright Sands things probably should get sorted out .. most Bright Sands characters seem to just assume they can treat a great scimitar/falchion like a longsword once they have access to them perhaps teh sandstorm book refers to masterwork items and the access devolves that way ? |
| Iswald11-28-06, 10:12 AM | The Bright Sands doc lists the tables starting PCs can use from Sandstorm. However, the tables in Sandstorm and the item descriptions don't mention anything about masterwork versions. Hopefully, it's not necessary to go into detail on the differences between living in a region and being able to find a merchant or craftsman who can produce a masterwork version of a weapon for you to buy versus killing random NPC GKY who was using a nonmasterwork exotic weapon in a module. |

Every GM and Bright Sands player i have come across assumes as you say that mw and +1 versions of sandstorm weapons are fine for brightsands players. My concern is more that an over-pedantic GM at a table at a con could pull people up on it. btw .. the same interpretation would probably ban centaurs from getting MW or +1 large weapons unlees it was a MW standard PHB weapon that enlarged with them at level 6 |
