The Wizards.com Spell Index and other documents use the three-letter abbreviation SpC to refer to the Spell Compendium. Our document uses the two-letter SC. We should change them all to SpC for consistency.

Check with Wizards to see if this is the official abbreviation.

While we're at it, the official abbreviation of the Player's Handbook seems to be the two-letter PH, not the three-letter PHB.

FWIW, I believe the two-letter notation derives from the fact that the campaign cards all use 2-letter notations -- thus, why we have "CV" for Complete Adventurer ;) ). The Player's Handbook needs to be PHB to distinguish it from the Planar Handbook (PH).

It would be beneficial (and consistent) to note abbreviations at the beginning of Chapter 9 also, at least for those titles where an abbreviation has not already been given in chapter 5. This presents some conflicts -- as we see in the PHB/PH example -- for several titles: Libris Mortis and Lords of Madness
Sandstorm and Savage Species
Races of Destiny and Races of the Dragon

I would suggest the following:
Arms & Equipment Guide (AE)
Book of Exalted Deeds (BE)
Book of Vile Darkness (BV)
Dungeon Master's Guide II (DMG2)
Fiend Folio (FF)
Libris Mortis (LI)
Lords of Madness (LM)
Manual of the Planes (MP)
Monster Manual II (MM2)
Monster Manual III (MM3)
Planar Handbook (PH)
Races of the Dragon (RR) - Can be amended once some campaign cards are released (as is likely)
Savage Species (SP)

We only use abbreviations for books that are generally available in the campaign, otherwise the source should be fully written out (such as Libris Mortis, Savage Species, etc.).

Chris noted the policy of writing things out, which of course holds for all documents.
If anyone wants the "official" abbreviations, just check one of the Consolidated Lists available here. It has a Product Key. I've noted the things listed on page 62 of the draft below for reference.

AE Arms and Equipment Guide
BE Book of Exalted Deeds
BV Book of Vile Darkness
CAd Complete Adventurer
CAr Complete Arcane
CD Complete Divine
CW Complete Warrior
Dr Draconomicon
DMG Dungeon Master's Guide v.3.5
DMG2 Dungeon Master's Guide II
FF Fiend Folio
Fr Frostburn
HB Heroes of Battle
HH Heroes of Horror
LoM Libris Mortis: The Book of the Dead (actually, it is LM in the key, and LoM in the lists)
LM Lords of Madness
MP Manual of the Planes
MH Miniatures Handbook
MM3 Monster Manual III
MM2 Monster Manual II
MM Monster Manual v.3.5
PlH Planar Handbook
PH Player's Handbook v.3.5
RD Races of Destiny
RS Races of Stone
RW Races of the Wild
Sa Sandstorm
SpC Spell Compendium (not in the list yet, but that's how it appears in the Spell Index as Ken has noted)
SS Savage Species
Sto Stormwrack

Perhaps all abbreviations used should be changed to these.
