Gallaway 04-04-07, 07:07 PM	I notice many people give PHB feats like power attack to their animals. Can a special mount or animal companian take any core feat it meets the prerequisites for once it gets enough hitdice to gain a new feat ? Could a riding dog for example take combat expertise and then later improved trip ? What about feats like "Dash" from a book like Complete Warrior ?
Timlagor 04-04-07, 08:50 PM	I believe they can now take anything they qualify for that is Open ...not so sure about Unlisted Feats that you have documentation to take for yourself. I rather doubt your dog qualifies for Combat Expertise.

I rather doubt your dog qualifies for Combat Expertise. Anything in the PHB, MM , and DMG is open unless otherwise noted. Thus, if you can somehow get your animal to qualify, it can take the feat. Edit: Oh, I see what you are saying Timlagor. I have no idea what sort of access to NONC feats your animal companion is considered to have. I would probably default to the same access as you, in a similar fashion to a cohort.
