With the prospect of a new LGCS in the near future, I have some changes I would like made to it. There are some Core Spell Compendium spells that I believe should be NPC Only. They are:

Cursed Blade - this spell is only on the Assassin list as a level 4 spell, and LG PCs cannot take the Assassin class, which is an NPC only class.

Infernal Threnody - this is an [evil, sonic] bard spell that boosts by 2 the effective caster level of each evil-aligned spellcaster within range. It gives a -4 profane penalty on Charisma checks to turn undead for good-aligned divine spellcasters. Based on the effects noted above, I believe this should be an NPC only spell also, since no neutral or good aligned bard would ever want to cast this spell to effect his party or an opposing evil party.

Heh. I never even noticed those two spells before. Having an evil descriptor doesn't ean that they should *never* be cast by players, but I really can't see a reason why they would be used very often. If you're concerned about PCs being "tempted" to use them, then I'd suggest removing them from the core list, thereby making them limited.

But the best place to make suggestions for the CY 997 LGCS is on the "LGCS 597 Recommendations" thread stickied on the Living Greyhawk community boards. Circly guy Britt Frey is actively collecting suggestions on that list.

What if cursed blade somehow ends up in a new non-evil class or prestige class. Then we have to wait for it to come OFF the list.

What if someone finds an interaction for the other spell that does benefit the party.

Personally I think the LGCS lists are so long they become reallly hard to remember whats core, whats limited, whats banned. It all runs together. So unless spells NEED to be on those lists they shouldn't. I see the above spells "should" be in the same category as theirs no current use for them. But I don't think actually removing them as options makes the lists more useful. It just makes the lists longer.

Infenal Trenady.. could be usefull in the bk.. you could help out your npc ally clerics.. :)

I would agree that an assassin only spells does not need to be on the core list...
