lavyan 07-14-07, 07:31 PM	Well, I am running a gish who is Fighter 1 and Wizard 1. I have access to buy a spellbook, once I transfer the spells I want to my spellbook can I sell the other spellbook? I would also like clarification on transfering spells from another spellbook (bought or from another PC), there is no check and no TU charge. The only thing I found was limiting the one spell per mod per caster level (does practiced spellcast increase this limit?). Thanks

You can take 10. There is a cost, per the core rules, per spell. There is a limit per caster level, per the LGCS. Practiced Spellcaster increases your caster level applies. David
DarkKnight 07-14-07, 10:09 PM	I thought you could only sell the spell book as long as it doesn't have any Non Open spells in it, you'll want to check the dispel confusion's and LGCS on that though. Also, what's a gish? is that some new race I haven't seen yet?

Wizards and other spellcasters that prepare spells from a spellbook lose access to the spell, unless the spell has already been scribed into another written source, such as a spellbook. Clerics, druids, and other divine casters that prepare from a list do not lose access – once they’ve found and purchased the item, it is considered a known spell for purposes of preparing spells. Sorcerers, bards, and other arcane casters that spontaneously cast spells must have already added the spell to their list of spells known in order to continue to use the spell; otherwise, they lose access, and cannot add the spell unless they find access again. Also, what's a gish? is that some new race I haven't seen yet? Gish is a term for any arcane caster that specializes in melee combat. (And occasionally ranged fighting.) A gish will use Buffing spells to make himself as good a melee fighter as possible, in the hopes of being strong enough via the combination of Sword and Spell to outdo the regular fighters. And it is possible to make a melee fighter caster capable of out damaging a melee powerhouse. But it isn't easy. Your character has a level of both Wizard and Fighter, which makes most people think "Melee Mage", although I'm guessing that you did that just for the extra HP and fort save bonus.
