Storm Bolt Reserve Feat [Archive] - Wizards Community

Was just looking at the reserve feats from CM, and noticed that Storm Bolt doesn't have a reflex save written into it, which is quite different from Winter's Blast and Fiery Burst. Thoughts, anybody?

Until they write up some errata, Storm Bolt is automatic damage.

Still requires getting within 20' and not having any unprotected allies in the way, though.

Fiery Burst gets four squares, in a 2x2, that can be placed precisely at up to 30 feet away. 2nd level spells prerequisite.

Winter's Blast affects six squares worth [at a corner] or seven squares worth [at the side], though it begins adjacent to the caster like Storm Bolt. 2nd level spells prerequisite.

So, all considered, steeper to get into (level), fewer squares affected than Winter's Blast, more difficult to precisely place than Fiery Burst.

Maybe it is worth the no Reflex save?

As a 20' line it can a few more than 4 squares, even basic straight shot hits 8. Still very short ranged, but the lack of save and higher prereqs seem fair enough to balance it.

06-29-07, 11:05 PM The nice thing is...you can use it when Wild Shaped (at least I think you can)...so if it's just one baddy, then fly up overhead and blast from above.

Absolutely...but I'm a druid. It's easier this way (and my Wild Shape lasts 8 hours).
