In the dieties document, it says: "Characters with Osperem or Procan as their patron diety may use Weapon Focus (trident) in replace of Weapon Focus (any spear or javelin) to meet that Feat Requirement of this prestige class; if they do so, all class features of this prestige class that apply to spears also apply to tridents." The emphisis on "may" was insterted by me. There are a number of drawbacks for using a trident as a ranged weapon, especially for a cleric. |

| trollbill12-07-06, 09:28 PM | I don't understand your problem with the word, "may." "May," clearly indicates a choice. If they had meant no choice, they would have used the word, "must." And I see nothing in the rest of the text that would contradict that. |
| _m_12-07-06, 11:30 PM | you're getting the ur facts mixed up though. replacing the weapon focus dosent suddenly mean you have to go around throwing tridents. regardless of weather u focus spear or trident for the pre-req, you still get all the bonuses for throwing javelins. its part of the class. the only thing that changes is your melee combat abilities get used by a trident instead of a spear. so it dosent actually matter which you use, your javelins still end up being all electricy and thundery and flashy goodness, and in close combat you use whichever weapon you focused to get in in the first place. |
