Jay_Ibero_911 12-18-06, 04:29 PM	Me and a friend of mine got a funny idea that I just want to know if it would work...I have a druid that at 15th level will be able to wild shape into a tendriculos...I know you get extraordinary special attacks of the forms you take but pretty much nothing else...Swallow Whole is obviously an extraordinary special attack that I would gain, but I'm not sure if that would include the paralyzing acid that is listed as part of the swallow whole ability. I just want to know whether or not I'd get that as part of the swallow whole. The reason is my friend has a copper dragon disciple who at 15th will be immune to acid and paralysis, so we thought it would be funny for him to hide in my stomach, so I can swallow and paralyze baddies while he finishes them off inside me. On a side note, if you assume a form with no eyes that normally relies on blindsense/sight, are you just blind because you don't get those special senses? Or do you at least get normal sight?
Japangirl 12-18-06, 04:58 PM	Well, if you want to be sure to be able to have the paralyzing acid, go Master of Many Forms. It would also allow you to be a tendriculos at level 12 . . .

The Tendriculos form is just something I though would be funny to do when I play my Druid with my friend's PC...just wanted to know if it would actually work, as it would be pretty funny, as well as powerful...

I think it's a waste of time. You are gimping your combat ability and threatening the safety of the party. If someone is swallowed, they aren't much of a threat. Instead of focusing your attention on the opponents who are still a danger, you have two PCs tied up with a non-threat. Ed

Ed A swallowed enemy is only not a threat if I do get the paralysis...otherwise they can fairly easily cut themselves out of my stomach...and since I definately would not get the regeneration (unlike a MOMF), having a gaping whole in my stomach could pose a problem...and I don't see how it could be construed as gimping my combat ability...
Arvagor 12-18-06, 11:47 PM	A swallowed enemy is only not a threat if I do get the paralysis...The druid's wild shape ability in LG is still based off the polymorph spell. Polymorph grants all extraordinary special attacks possessed by the form you are polymorphed into. The tendriculos's Swallow Whole/Paralysis (Ex) ability is listed in the creature's stat block as a special attack. Ergo, a druid wild-shaped into a tendriculos gains said creature's Swallow Whole/Paralysis (Ex) ability. That said, I agree with Sieylianna that it is a very sub-optimal tactic -- if your party is circa 15th level, you're wasting combat effectiveness by having one member of the party not doing anything by sitting around in your stomach, especially if that party member is a 10th level dragon disciple. It takes a minimum of two rounds to get the creature you're attacking grabbed and into your stomach -- that's two rounds the DD could be using its breath weapon (6d8 points of damage), attacking physically, etc. You're also presuming the foe won't make the Fort save against the paralysis -- at 15th level that's a bit of a crap shoot...
