For example the Geometer prestige class from Complete Arcane has an ability, Pass Sigil. In the text it says you get it at 3rd level but in the table it says 4th. I know that with certain spells and other things it said in the FAQ or someplace that you go with what the text says, at least that's what I thought I read at one point, but I'm just trying to make sure.

I know that with certain spells and other things it said in the FAQ or someplace that you go with what the text says, at least that's what I thought I read at one point, but I'm just trying to make sure. they published a "general ruling" on table vs. text in the Complete Divine Errata: When the text within a product contradicts itself, our general policy is that the primary source (actual rules text) is correct and any secondary reference (such as in a table or a character’s statistics block) is incorrect. Exceptions to the rule will be called out specifically. and obviously they don't give a lukewarm methane burst whether this blanket statement is correct or not in a specific case or what happens if passages of text are contradicting. so, yes right now, the text overrides the table UNLESS an ERRATA or the FAQ says otherwise. there was an announcement on the WotC boards somewhere that with the disintegration of the magazines Dungeon and Dragon there will be a new "Official Errata Column" somewhere on the WotC websites but whether and when and how good this will be . . . . . . i don't know. ciao martin m.
