Mommy was an Orc 02-01-06, 09:56 PM	Page 84 of PHB says you can use Tumbling to entertain as the Perform skill. Whether or not it Is it legal to use Tumbling to gain gold from 'Benefits from Non-Adventuring Activity' should be specified on page 51.
redgamer 02-01-06, 10:03 PM	Well that would open up non-adventuring activities to more characters. I think that is a good thing.
MatBlack 02-01-06, 10:12 PM	i think the wording of the PHB makes this "alternate" use of tumbling pretty clear. however, there will be judges that insist that since the lgcs doesn't list it as usable, it can't be used. i think the lgcs should definitely be update to acknowledge that use of tumble... it could be most simply accomplished by changing the entry to "Perform/ Tumble" instead of just "Perform."
redgamer 02-01-06, 10:32 PM	The LGCS as written cerctaintly does not allow tumble as non adventuring. There is a table for perform not perform and skills like it. Again though I think it should allow for tumble.
Arvagor 02-01-06, 11:41 PM	In defense of tumblers, the confusion stems from the wording as it exists in the PHB, page 84: You can also tumble to entertain an audience (as though using the Perform skill).The Try Again section of Tumble also implies that using Tumble in this way functions just like the Perform skill: An audience, once it has judged a tumbler as an uninteresting performer, is not receptive to repeat performances. I would argue that based on these two passages, Tumble should be allowed to function as a Perform check for purpose of earning coin between adventures.

Maybe something like "DC 35: You've drawn the attention of a local minor noble, who commissions you for a performance....", "DC 40: Your near-legendary performance has drawn attention from afar as nobles in near-by regions flock to see your performance...", etc. John
Mommy was an Orc 02-02-06, 12:20 AM	I was actually thinking about something similar, but then it could be linked to lifestyle - if you picked one of the more expensive lifestyles, you're more likely to hobnob with the noble willing to commission you for that performance. DC 25 is the max if you have no lifestyle, 30 if you have standard, 35 if you have rich, 40 if you have luxury. Just a thought. And while you're editting perform, make the table go above DC 30!
