The LGCS specifically states the standard "mastercraft/+1 upgrade" option does not apply to non PHB items (presumably great bows, elven thinblades and the like).

Technically this could cause problems for Bright Sands characters as the rule could be interpreted as applying to Centaur large weapons and also sandstorm weapons but fortunately commonsense seems to apply and most people ignore this restriction in those cases.

My question concerns more mundane non PHB items such as Elven Thinblades.

These items occasionally turn up as mastercrafted but an AR access to make them +1 is almost non-existant.

If the PC has access to a weapon upgrade such as "bane magical beasts" can they use this to upgrade a mastercrafted weapon (paying for the prerequisite +1 enhancement as at the same time) ?

In other words does a favor allowing a +2 or higher enhancement imply the prerequisite +1 is available at the same time?

Page 17 of the LGCS allows upgrading any standard masterwork item to +1. An elven thinblade is a standard item, so if it is masterwork, you can upgrade it to +1.

OK so its only masterwork that is an issue but most access tends to be for the masterwork version

good news .. thanks
