- Anything thrown (Daggers, clubs, shortspears, spears, darts, javelins, throwing axes, light hammers, tridents, shuriken, and nets).
- Hand crossbow or light crossbow with Rapid Reload feat.
- Repeating crossbows.
- Slings.
- Assorted exotic weapons from various splatbooks (such as the staffbow and greatbow).

The wording is: "You can get one extra attack per round with a ranged weapon." If it's a ranged weapon, you can use it.

thats what it says.... its just that it takes a move action to reload a sling, and a move or more for crossbows.

Actually, Rapid Shot would only work with weapons that are a free action to reload or could be incorporated into a full attack. For instance, you can't rapid shot with a sling, a two handed thrown weapon or crossbow.

The Rapid Reload feat lets you reload crossbows faster. So, you could combine it with Rapid Shot when using a hand or light crossbow.

A PC wielding a longsword and a dagger could do a full attack with his longsword and then use Rapid Shot to throw the dagger. Ie, a sixth level fighter could attack twice with his sword plus gain the thrown dagger attack. If this fighter had Quickdraw, he could attack once with the longsword and then throw two daggers instead.

Two handed thrown weapons don't work with rapid shot since throwing them is a full round action incompatible with making a full attack (required when making more than one attack).

dagger, club, shortspear, spear, dart, javelin, axe (throwing), hammer (light), trident, sai, bolas, shuriken.

for a lot of thrown weapons you would need "quick draw" to let you benefit from "rapid shot", then it works fine.

(in a home game i would give you drawing darts and even javelins as a free action as well, as they are basically the same as arrows, according to their fluff text and are stored in quivers for easy and fast access.)

after rereading the part:

PHB p. 113: Throwing a light or one-handed weapon is a standard action while throwing a two-handed weapon is a full round action.

i am not sure it is intended for two-handed thrown weapons (only example in the PHB is the spear) as well, as it appears in the text block about improvised weapons.

does that mean a hulking hurler with quickdraw can rapid shot large rocks ?

does that mean a hulking hurler with quickdraw can rapid shot large rocks ?Doubtful, because he'd have to pick the rocks up off the ground -- a move action -- meaning he can't use the full attack action to gain the benefit of rapid shot.

I'm no weapons expert, but even if a spear is two-handed while in melee, I think it's thrown one-handed. (I can't even begin to picture how you'd throw a spear two-handed. :D )

something like a two-handed haul over the head??? :)

track and fields "hammer throwing" style, definitely a two-handed throw ;)

for the spear i see it as well as a one handed throw normally, and as the part about two-handed weapons is in a different paragraph, the one that deals with "improvised weapons", i am not sure whether it takes a full round action or not :(.

damn any company delivering such a poor edited book for a science subject would be grounded before half of the first edition is sold

 at least their "FAQ" and "ERRATA" should address some of the points that players bring up in one of these forums (these and the general RPGA D&D forums as well).

Ur using ur other hand to counterbalance and throw it harder than normal?

isn't it obvious? you'd do it in exactly the same blatantly physics defying manner that you use a lance 2 handed whilst mounted: you have both of your arms on the same side of your body.

Might work better in a Gamma World game, where "both arms on same side" is more likely. :D

I could've tried to by tying the weapon to the crappy arm that my one pc grew on one side in a mod. I had him jumping and having it flap around while saying "Look what I can do!" Too bad it went away when I got healed. :D

Does this mean then a 6th level fighter with Rapid Shot and Two-Weapon fighting wielding a long sword and a dagger could make the following as a full-round attack action:
2 for sword
1 for dagger
+1 ranged attack for dagger?

Expect table variation on this. I have seen more than one judge rule that "extra" means that at least two of the attacks have to be made with ranged weapons. Not that I agree, but that's what you might find.

If you look at the monk example in the FAQ (pg 13), it says that if they threw at least one shuriken, they'd be able to make another attack with a shuriken. With your example, they'd have to throw both daggers.

If you look at the text of Rapid Shot, it just says that you get one extra ranged attack. There's no indication that you'd have to have made another ranged attack first, though that can be inferred from the 'extra'.

if the 6th level fighter had ITWF and quick draw he could

2 Mainhand, Primary off-hand attack with dagger, use seconday off-hand as a throw, then quick draw and throw the new dagger in your off-hand with rapid shot.

I remember seeing a mundane item.. special sleaves.. that are worn under your clothes.. which hold sling ammo.. so you can "quickdraw" the ammo.

That plus rapid shot.. will let you full attack and get the extra attack.

if one TWF or ITWF and Rapid shot in the smae round, would that not make every attack -4?

-2 for TWF and -2 for Rapid shot?

Yes to answer the above question. Just like flurry of blows and TWF
