| ithardin08-07-07, 03:48 PM | Imagine my excitement when finally that envelope from WOTC shows up, especially after the one that arrived two weeks ago had RPGA cards in it. Finally, LG-specific campaign cards. *BUZZER* Nope, thanks for playing. More Eberron cards...*sighs and heads for the paper shredder* You'd think by looking (which I know they don't do) at my RPGA account they would see that all I play is LG. I have no desire to play any of the other RPGA campaigns. Thanks for nothing...again. |

More Eberron cards...*sighs and heads for the paper shredder* You'd think by looking (which I know they don't do) at my RPGA account they would see that all I play is LG. I have no desire to play any of the other RPGA campaigns. Thanks for nothing...again. I got three cards this mailing. All were eberron card. Only two of them MIGHT become usable in LG. And one of those two is useless to ALL of my characters. Last mailing I got 3 eberron and 3 greyhawk cards. Only one Greyhawk card has made it into my stack regularly. I'm all with you on this. I wish we could choose a preference of which cards we would get first. I know I want LG cards, because I only play LG and there's no Xendrik games in my area. |
| Harliquinn08-07-07, 03:58 PM | People must not have played much RPGA in the last 4 months, as my note said they doubled the normal rewards again this time. Usually from what I have seen you won't get doubles of cards until you earn more than 10 cards (60 points). Therefore with 40 points (10 games if you don't count big conventions), you should have at least gotten 2 LG cards. (all 5 if they doubled the points). |

If you're only playing 5 modules in 4 months, are you really expecting a lot of customization in the rewards you get? Not trying to be contrary, but just curious. |
| Zarron08-07-07, 04:08 PM | Blast them and their free stuff not being nifty enough! Give us better free stuff! |
| ithardin08-07-07, 04:16 PM | Well when you put it that way all I can say is...SHUT UP! *laughing* I know, I was hesitant to even post this-but I was just getting frustrated with seeing people who play 1/3rd the LG that I do getting all these LG-specific cards and me getting bubkis. Its not a question of not playing enough. I've got conventions in February, March, April, May, at least one or two gamedays a month, etc. Oh well. I'm just getting anti-excited for all the new kobold PCs that will be invading. |
| Harliquinn08-07-07, 04:23 PM | Well I will likely be an invading kobold PC :) I imagine the novelty will wear off for many of the new ones anyways so you won't have to put up with many in a few months. I actually got 1 of all the cards and a couple extra Eberron cards myself in this mailing, but I played a *lot*. |
| ithardin08-07-07, 04:26 PM | I'm still waiting for the "interrupt box-text" campaign card:D |
| Demoyn08-07-07, 04:27 PM | I feel your pain. I read the preview of the cards on this board and picked out two (kobolds and spontaneous memorization) cards that I would absolutely love. I got excited knowing that I would get 6 cards (and another 6 for my fiance) in the mail, so odds that I received at least one of those cards would be great. Then the mailing gets here. First, the cutoff for points was at the worst possible time, and ended with me getting 3 cards and her getting 0. Then I open the envelope and find 3 Xen'drik cards, two of which require action points to use, and the other affecting aura range (I believe this is beneficial to only paladins and marshals, and I'm in the BK.... so only marshals). It's completely understandable that these cards are free and complaining about them is a bit faux pas, but the bottom line is that these cards can be used in game, and that allows benefits that others can't take advantage of. It's especially frustrating in my case because I've been playing LG since December 2000, and all I have to show for it in terms of RPGA rewards (through tons of bad luck) is one playable card "I have that", another possibly playable card with the aura extension, and the fist of emirikol. All of the rest of my cards are banned from play in LG, mostly due to being cards from campaigns that I've never played (or even shown interest in) in my life. |
| ithardin08-07-07, 04:32 PM | Well I am pretty good at not committing any of the other LG/D&D party fouls so I think I have some latitude in whinging a little. Won't keep me from playing, judging or trying to bring more into the LG fold and this thread'll soon die out and get smothered in more exciting ones, so I'll enjoy it while it lasts... |
| Harliquinn08-07-07, 04:40 PM | Then the mailing gets here. First, the cutoff for points was at the worst possible time, and ended with me getting 3 cards and her getting 0. Dragon Shaman have auras also :) I can see how getting all cards (or most) for the campaign you don't play is frustrating. However, there are numerous options available to alleviate this, including but not limited to: trading with friends, trading online, buying/selling on eBay. I do wish you luck in getting the cards you want. You could also start some Xen'drik characters :) Harliquinn |
| kenobi6508-07-07, 04:43 PM | The issue, Ian, is that it appears that the reward cards are still being issued on a completely random basis. Especially if you didn't earn a lot of points, you're completely at the mercy of the luck of the draw (or Istus, or whatever...) Me, I'm cranky because my lovely bride got *her* cards last week, and I haven't gotten mine yet. :) |
| Rerednaw08-07-07, 04:51 PM | I have about 30-40 rewards cards. I use about 4 of them. Those four? I got from other sources (i.e. beg, trade, or ebay). How many I got from RPGA that I actually can use (including the most recent batch)? 0. Well that's not entirely accurate. I now have a ton of bookmarks. :) And it's sort of free. I just chalk it up to bad luck. When the Flumph race card for LG comes out though, I know I'll be the only one in my block with 'em... |
| control freak08-07-07, 06:19 PM | Sarcasm= N/A i got 3 cards, 1 ups aura range, 1 is the kobolt card, 1 is the confirm critical thing :D maby that favor of istis i have is applying to real life :D  :P get that favor muahahah |
| ithardin08-07-07, 06:44 PM | Bookmarks! I hadn't thought of that! Thanks for the Bookmarks! |
| control freak08-07-07, 06:56 PM | beggers cant be chosers |
| Evanta08-07-07, 08:57 PM | Hold on to those eberron cards, come next year with the LGCS update they *might* become legal for LG play. |
| The_Jester08-07-07, 10:34 PM | Now that there's two very different groupings of cards that can't cross-over they should really split-up reward points. I'm likely only getting 6 cards and predominantly play LG. While my few attempts into XE might be improved with decent cards I'd much rather play a kobold or get a LG card. I'm sure there are Eberron players all ****** that they got uselss LG cards. |
| UMiskatonic08-07-07, 10:59 PM | I'm still waiting for the "interrupt box-text" campaign card:D Just turn the card sideways, and smack the judge with it. Use the Eberron cards, so it's okay if they are damaged. (That's also sarcasm, I would never smack a judge I didn't know) |
| lseelba08-07-07, 11:30 PM | Please no one throw away or shred the Eberron cards you got. At the very least let me pay you for shipping them to me! They cut off the date at the worst possible time for me. I have 82 reward points in my account right now, but when the cutoff happened I didn't have 20 in either side (DM or player). That means I'm still accumulating points and I'll have a massive NEXT mailing instead of two respectable mailings. Seriously though, let me buy the Eberron cards off of anyone who doesn't want them. PM me. -Lou |
| Madfox1108-08-07, 04:13 AM | I'm sure there are Eberron players all ****** that they got uselss LG cards. Not really... they allow the LG cards to be used in Xen'drik if I remember correctly. Which does remind me to discuss which Xen'drik cards might be used in LG. |
| Gwumph08-08-07, 05:03 AM | I know this discussion has come up alot in past. But I also know that WOTC mods review these boards. So here is my suggestion again! Change the way this works....... If you call them rewards cards, that implies you are getting something for doing something (i.e. supporting the game by playing or Dming alot). Now to reward someone for doing something with what essentially is Fluff promotional material is INSULTING!!! It seems you lack even the basic customer service skills, and think treating us like third world consumers is OK. If you want to promote other campaigns and game worlds.. Great!! Once a year or so send us some nifty cards from another game and if it interests me, I will check it out. But please don't "reward" me for helping the LG Campaign grow and thrive by giving me promotional material......makes me ****** off that WOTC uses such cheap, sleazy marketing technique's when their consumer base is so much more sophisticated than that. It implies a massive lack of respect on behalf of the WOTC management towards their consumers to treat them like uneducated people from a developing nation!!!! Simon Neville #41072427 |
| chesspiece08-08-07, 09:08 AM | To me, getting to play LG / D&D (with free adventures) is its own reward. My name's Steve and I'm an RPG addict of 27 years. With my (non-gaming) family, D&D is a rare and treasured opportunity. Sure, I started playing LG in 2000 (very seldom). Before the previous mail-out, my only LG legal card was Fast Talker. [bleh] But I'd like to offer my difference of opinion by saying thanks to the Circle, RPGA, and countless volunteers. Thanks for listening to our wants and requests. Thanks for trying so hard to improve the quality of the LG campaign. |

Thanks for trying so hard to improve the quality of the LG campaign. Hmm, if you hadn't said Steve, I'd suspect you're me. Yeah, I remember playing D&D when they didn't give us anything for playing it. In fact, they charged us $6+ a mod. I also remember how difficult it was to keep a steady gaming group in a home campaign, where you'd lose a couple of players for a week and you'd have to cancel. Living Greyhawk doesn't always have the best mods or tables, but it is pretty consistent gaming. Getting a useless card isn't that bad of a deal. Give WotC/RGPA a break on this - they're just trying to get you interested in Eberron with the Eberron cards. You don't use 'em, you don't use 'em. |
| Prof. Pacali08-08-07, 12:15 PM | People, People! Let's be reasonable. Go over to the X'endrik Expeditions forum, and offer to trade with the nice XE players. I listed my cards, and got two requests for A Stormrider's Chapbook item card, with one person offering me a Feign Surprise! Trust me, just because they don't play a Living campaign doesn't mean we can't barter with them! |
| Demoyn08-08-07, 01:28 PM | I will not barter with the enemy. Eberron is the bane of true D&D! |
| control freak08-08-07, 01:50 PM | lol, no its just a golem infested land |
| Shieldhart9108-08-07, 07:36 PM | I have looked over at Xendrik, and I just don't like the way that WotC handles that particular system. Maybe it's because I'm an AR junkie, and that's what I learned. I've been playing D&D AND LG for a little over a year now, and I've learned D&D from LG. I can never thank that community enough, and I try to give back whatever I can for that. The mailing is just a plus. I'll admit, I feel bad for those people that get the 3 Xendrik Cards and only play LG: in such a case, I do feel it's important that WotC actually mails LG based on a priority. Then again, they are doing this for free- so I can't really complain. Nothing is wrong with trading. How about getting off your arse and trading those Xendrik cards for LG? How about you quit complaining and try to get what you want? If you've ever been to a con, you know that LG is a willing and active community. If you can't find what you're looking for, try again another day. There IS more then one con a year. I'll admit it's aggravating- but COME ON. It's D&D. Without WotC and LG as a whole, you'd be restricted to shoddy home games and online ones- where people drop out left and right. There will always be an LG base- and therefore, always a table. |
| Chernobyl108-09-07, 01:07 AM | counting GM points (which the letter says it does), I earned 72 points this cycle (Jan-April), enough for 3 sets. After doubling (which the letter says it does also) that would would make 6 sets, or 18 cards. however, I got only 9 cards, meaning either they didn't double the cards, or they didn't count the GM points. as it is, I got 4 LG cards, no doubles but not the full set, sadly. and yes there's a bunch of ebberon cards I'll probably never use. I was kind of hoping for a friggin Feign Surprise or something though - are they still rewarding older cards? Chern |
| kenobi6508-09-07, 10:18 AM | I was kind of hoping for a friggin Feign Surprise or something though - are they still rewarding older cards? Usually, each rewards period brings a new set of cards (though they will sometimes reprint an older card in a new set). There was one rewards period where they sent out copies of old cards, but that was the exception to the rule. There was a reprint of Feign Surprise in the Spring mailing this year; there should be a ton of those floating around, and maybe you can trade for one. |
| The_Jester08-09-07, 11:07 AM | They're doubling cards this time too? Nice, I might actually get some LG cards then with my 35 points. |
| Demoyn08-09-07, 01:44 PM | They're doubling cards this time too? Nice, I might actually get some LG cards then with my 35 points. Don't count on it. |
| ithardin08-10-07, 01:00 PM | No bites on the Xen'Drik forums in re trading, and I found out that a Con I went to in May is just getting the tables reported this weekend (there were understandable reasons why). Yes, I know its free promotional material. Yes, I know we are provided a great deal of support from WOTC, the circle, etc. And I know they are trying to get us interested in Eberron. But lets be realistic. Hasbro & WOTC are businesses and provide the promo material to sell books. Why do you think you have to own a copy of the book in order to use a feat, etc. per the LGCS rules? I'm thankful for the support and even though I didn't get any of the LG cards it is not going to cause me to stop playing LG (though the thought of all you dang kobolds smelling up my tables might-he he he). |
| Sieylianna08-10-07, 06:06 PM | They're doubling cards this time too? Nice, I might actually get some LG cards then with my 35 points. I only received three cards despite the fact that the enclosure said they were doubling cards. I may as well email HQ and ask for three more. Ed |
