i see alot of threads on a rouge build i am looking to build a rouge, but with a good bit of fighter abilities. our tables always seem to lacka rouge for search and spot and traps and such so i need some areas there. but i have never built a rouge and would like to maximise the sneak attack ability i am open to all races and legal builds. not really looking for to much of a mutt charactor but i would appriciate yalls imput. yall have always come through with sound advise for me . i hope what i contribute is as good to all of you :D

Don't play a rouge. They're overpowdered.

A scout can be a fairly powerful character, depending on how you build them. Effective scouts I've seen take Track at 1st level or 3rd (lets you get the drop instead of the other way around). PB/PS are also common feats to take early. Skirmish AC/Damage comes into play alot more than sneak attack at low levels. And even when you can't damage with skirmish, you can still get the AC bonus (auto tumble is a good thing).

More HP, similar abilites, I'd go with a scout unless you want to play a face man, in which case go for a rogue; race is a preference thing (though wild elves can make nasty scouts at 16,16,12,12,12,8) and be sure to print off the errata before building a scout as DD is a class skill now.

Here's a fun and strange build that will enable you to optimize the abilities you are looking at rogue for.. sneak attack, spot and search
looking for nightsong PRC access..

Dwarven
S 15 (Stat boosts here)
D 12
C 16
I 14
W 12
CH 6
(Tumbling: dwarves don't get reduced movement for full plate and with 5 ranks itll boost your fighting defensively when you need it and have stability , +4 vs trip if you miss your attempt)

tough it out using chain shirt and sickle for 3 scenarios

1-Rogue 1 - combat expertise, search 4, spot 4, disable device 4, listen 4, know local 4, tumble 4, open lock 4, decipher script 4, jump 4, climb 4
2- Fighter 1- Spiked Chain proficiency, buy spiked chain and full plate jump 5, climb 5, swim 2
3- Fighter 2- Improved Trip, Spike Chain Focus swim 3 craft weapon 3
4 -Rogue 2, tumble 5, disable device 5, search 7, spot 7,
5- Rogue 3 search 8, spot 8, ...etc
from then on you can go rogue advancing your sneak attack and skills while wearing full plate and hitting and damaging well..

Well thought I'd give a wierd but fun one..
