| pedr07-04-07, 09:44 AM | I've not seen this mentioned on here (though some people have already noticed and ordered it!) The word is that the drow are on the attack hitting and destroying numerous temples of Corellon and various elven villages throughout Oerth. The strange thing is that no one seems to know where their exact location is or who the main leader is ordering the attacks. Adventurers are pouring in to help with the cause are you willing and able? A multi-round Core Adaptable adventure set on numerous planes for characters level 9-12 (APL 10). There are 3 ARs for this adventure, and the total time unit cost is 32 TUs. Available from 28th June 07 to 31st December 08 https://events.wizards.com/RPGAWeb/external/econplay.asp?ScenarioCd=DEMON1LG https://events.wizards.com/RPGAWeb/external/econplay.asp?ScenarioCd=DEMON2LG https://events.wizards.com/RPGAWeb/external/econplay.asp?ScenarioCd=DEMON3LG |
| copper_wyrmling07-04-07, 10:20 AM | Curses. There go my elf dervish's TUs for NEXT year - I hadn't seen the blurb before, thanks pedr. Hmmm, I wonder what the ARs-to-retirement record is? ;) |
| AOSOL07-04-07, 10:53 AM | Hmmm, I wonder what the ARs-to-retirement record is? ;) I'm standing on 22 ARs for a 10th level cleric. What are you at? |
| copper_wyrmling07-04-07, 11:13 AM | I'm standing on 22 ARs for a 10th level cleric. What are you at? 23 ARs for a L10 dervish, although one of them's a conversion record. (AR 1 = Mad God's Key, AR 2 = Year 5 conversion, AR 3 = Fane of the Drow, ARs 10, 17, 18, 21 and 22 = RHOD.) The race is on! :P |
| Howie2307-04-07, 01:30 PM | 32 TUs. For those borrowing Max TU from Year 8 for RHoD...No Meta Orgs or Rebuild borrowing or you won't have sufficient TU for this one. Start planning now. :) David |
| Genghis Cohen07-04-07, 01:34 PM | I'm entering CY 598 with 51 TUs for my 9th level wizard. He has a lot of crafting to do after RHoD. Oh yeah, the metaorgs. Looks like 5 one round regional or metaregional adventures and then Demonweb Pits. Then I get to play him again in 2009. |
| Prof. Pacali07-04-07, 03:46 PM | Well my Sorceror will have to wait to visit the Abyss till next year, as he has a horde of hobgoblins to deal with. |
| gomeztoo07-04-07, 04:26 PM | As these are 3 ARs, I guess you could play part in 2007 and part in 2008? |
| dkay80707-04-07, 07:24 PM | I've been informed that all three parts are APL 10, and that you will get enough from parts 1 and 2 to level a 12th level PC to 13th. I have begun the adventure with my newly-turned 12th level PC. Does this mean that I am forced into taking half XP and half GP for part three assuming that I level after part 2? Can this rule be ignored for "AR" purposes since it is all the same adventure, or are they all considered separate adventures for the purposes of this as well? I'd hate to have to find ways to "miss out" on XP just to not suffer that penalty. |
| control freak07-04-07, 07:44 PM | they might be slowly scaling in APL like 10,10,11 but i could be wrong (as barrows is to prevent this issue) also the TU spread may be like 8,8,16 |
| dkay80707-04-07, 09:11 PM | they might be slowly scaling in APL like 10,10,11 but i could be wrong (as barrows is to prevent this issue) also the TU spread may be like 8,8,16 The APL of all 3 parts is 10 and the TU breakdown is 7, 11, 14 I believe. However, it would have been more appropriate for the APL to scale a bit through the various parts... like APL 10, 11 and 12. Oh well, I'd really like to receive an answer to this question - I can see a number of players running into this same problem. It's feasible for a PC that started the series at 11th level to hit 13th before part 3 as it is currently structured. |
| control freak07-04-07, 09:49 PM | im curious seems that more ADPS are being let out which every one loves what about undermoutian (it would have to be a whole 2 year adventure it would cost well over 70 TU i guess) i think wizos like the ADPS because they promote all levels of play, and let players reach high levels fast and actualy burn time units off all their guys and have 3-4 full progression (45+ TUs used) characters |
| Prof. Pacali07-04-07, 10:24 PM | Undermountain has the unfortunate stigma of too much FR-specific material to port over to LG. Anything FR or Ebberon specfic is Closed. |
| pedr07-05-07, 07:57 AM | Undermountain is being adapted for an FR mini-campaign. The first part started today(?) at Origins, parts 2, 3, and 4 will be at GenCon Indy, PAX, GenCon UK and SRU. Apparently they will be released for homeplay later, though I'm not entirely sure what the advantage of playing them like that would be over just playing independent of the RPGA, except for the RPGA points. |

Hmmm, I wonder what the ARs-to-retirement record is? ;) Yeah, this might eat up Olivia's TU's for this year since someone is organizing a game locally. She considers herself an expert in planar threats to Oerth since she ended the Ether Threat when she was only level 4, and has squelched several other "open big gates to Oerth" plans since then. |
| control freak07-05-07, 01:30 PM | personaly i love the idea of this and will be spending 43 of my TU right away (demon webs, dragon down, frost fell 2 and the prequil to the high level thing) so i get 7 TU to play around with :D (probably on another ADP lol) |
| TimRat07-08-07, 10:35 PM | Ok to the question about the TUs and taking half xp/gp here is the answer. treat this just like RHoD in that you are the level you are when that specific adventure starts. so if you are 13th when the 3rd part begins then you are 13th and thus take half xp/gp. |

Uhm, for the fun of playing? It's a game, you know. You do it for fun, not swag... I would like to play a home game of part 1 (am gonna play 2-4 at Gencon UK), to test out my PC and get the flavor. JUst for fun. Don't know whether I will have the time though. But anayway: Do I get it correctly that I can play part 1/2 of Demonweb Pits in 2007 and part 3 in 2008, like RHOD (so I can spread TU costs)? |

What I meant was: what is the benefit of complying with the mini-campaign rules (such as they are), instead of playing it as a true home-game. In fact, were I to run it as a home game, outside the RPGA, I'd be considerably more restrictive in the allowable sources for character generation than the mini-campaign is. Now I've seen the rules, I'm looking forward to DMing it at GenCon UK slightly less: I guess I should try to find a way of at least browsing Bo9S, ToM, Magic of Incarnum etc before I turn up and discover some odd mutt psionic/incarnate/crusader or whatnot at my table! |
| gomeztoo07-09-07, 12:05 PM | What I meant was: what is the benefit of complying with the mini-campaign rules (such as they are), instead of playing it as a true home-game. Oh, right, missed the point entirely, sorry ;) I think it depends on the adventures run. They could be expansions or adaptations. If it is just 'run chapter X', then it is probably not going to matter much. If it adds a new hook and such, then it may be fun to play. As to the incredible list of optiosn: yep, I'm happy I'm not DMing. Bo9S is hard enough to comprehend... let alone all the new magic from ToM, psionics, warlocks, or the 1 million feats and prestige classes. I'm probably going to play a simple wizard or sorceress, so probably won't be among the total oddball PCs ;)... I' m playing all the Friday slots, btw. |
