But the listing also says that Al'Akbar has four domains. According to Deities and Demigods, only Lesser Deities and higher ranked deities can have more than 3 domains, by way of the Extra Domain salient divine ability. Any suggestions on how to resolve the inconsistency? |

There is this gem of clarity in the Living Greyhawk Writers' Handbook: Specific information about deities will be used only as a reference. Whatever that means. But, in fairness, the same book says that options that are not specifically listed should be assumed to not be in use. This seems to apply to the the Deities and Demigods rules on domains and salient divine abilities. So that seems to clarify it a bit. Still, I'm not sure what the extra domains really add other than continuity with the early-published LGG. I'm guessing that the real reason this has been grandfathered in is that the LGG was written before the designers had any chance to focus on the later published deities rules in DDG. I wish there were a Greyhawk setting book consistent with the 3.5 rules so this stuff could be harmonized at least on the "canonical" level. It would be easier to keep it straight. |
