Essentially, it ended up with our party ranger wanting to start out with a teepee. I don't think there is any reason he can't have one, but just to check, does anyone know if he can start out with a teepee? |

However, common sense dictates that such a form of shelter probably does exist locally amongst flan nomads. By teepee, I believe he is refering to the teepee presented in the Arms and Equipment guide. In effect, the teepee is a very large tent capable of sheltering up to 8 medium size creatures. I personally wouldn't disallow it, considering the fact that it takes a pack animal just to carry the thing around and an hour to set it up. |

A&EG is not an approved source of "open" equipment to buy in Living Greyhawk (keep in mind that the A&EG is a 3.0 book; LG spent the last two years removing all the 3.0 sourcebooks from the campaign). The list of approved sources for buying equipment is in the LGCS. For starting equipment, you're pretty much limited to stuff from the PHB. Once you play an LG adventure, your PC has access to more stuff...but that still doesn't allow the A&EG. That said...a 2-person tent is allowed (PHB, p. 128). If he just wants a teepee because it's flavor for his Flan PC, have him buy a tent and declare that it's teepee-shaped. (Your reasoning about allowing the teepee would be just fine if you were just running your own home campaign. But, in LG, you need to follow the rules on item access, even if the item in question doesn't seem to be a big deal.) |
