| ithardin03-30-07, 09:52 AM | I was told that Baatorian Green Steel is located in Fiendish Codex II. I had a friend who looked in his and couldn't find it. Is he just non-proficient in search or is there a different location for what this metal is, what it does and how much it costs to make say...a scimitar out of it? Thanks in advance Ian |
| Maesto03-30-07, 10:01 AM | I think it's in the DMG2 from memory... there's a whole lot of funny materials in there. |
| ithardin03-30-07, 10:41 AM | I didn't see it in the DMG2. I'm checking the AeG. |
| ithardin03-30-07, 10:50 AM | Found it. It has a natural +1 to damage, but costs +2,000gp to create. So you could get a MSTWK weapon made out of it for the cost of a +1 weapon made of regular steel. You would get a +1 to attack & damage, so under most circumstances it would act as a +1 weapon (in a magically suppressed area it would retain its bonuses). Hmmm, it might be fun flavor-wise to have a weapon forged in the nine hells of Baator...that ought to get you some looks from the churchies in the group. |
| LachlarlanIII03-30-07, 10:50 AM | It's in the A&EG. |
| ithardin03-30-07, 10:51 AM | Thanks Lach. Just found it (as indicated by above post). :D |

Is he just non-proficient in search Isn't that annoying, when people don't take the time to verify such things but they pass them off as facts anyway? :-) or is there a different location for what this metal is Baatorian green steel appears on page 47 of Lord of the Iron Fortress and on page 13 of Arms and Equipment Guide. Both of those sources fully answer your questions. It may appear in later books, but I couldn't say. Cheers! |
| vvincent03-30-07, 10:52 AM | I didn't see it in the DMG2. I'm checking the AeG. Check the following: Planar Handbook Manual of the Planes I believe it appears inone of those books - although I also would have said Fiendish Codex II. Vernon L. Vincent your source for all things Verbobonc "Welcome to Verbobonc - Pick a side!" |
| LachlarlanIII03-30-07, 10:54 AM | Thanks Lach. Just found it (as indicated by above post). :D Look at our timestamps :P |

It may appear in later books, but I couldn't say. Incidentally, it does also appear in Fiendish Codex II, at the bottom of page 99. |

You would get a +1 to attack & damage, so under most circumstances it would act as a +1 weapon (in a magically suppressed area it would retain its bonuses). Though, unless it specifically says so, I don't think it would bypass DR/magic. Hmmm, it might be fun flavor-wise to have a weapon forged in the nine hells of Baator...that ought to get you some looks from the churchies in the group. Arrias would have to smite you on general principle. :D |
| Britt03-30-07, 12:24 PM | It sounds like they tried to replicate it with Hellforged Template in DMG2. |
| ithardin03-30-07, 12:49 PM | Look at our timestamps :P Excellent... |
| ithardin03-30-07, 12:50 PM | Incidentally, it does also appear in Fiendish Codex II, at the bottom of page 99. So my friend has no ranks in search:D |
| jthilo03-30-07, 01:14 PM | So my friend has no ranks in search:D Well, maybe one or two. But not enough for a synergy bonus. To be fair, it's a sidebar (which doesn't appear in the table of contents) wedged between prestige classes and spells; at least it's in the "Game Rules" chapter. |
| ithardin04-02-07, 04:41 PM | True. I did an evil act and flipped through a Fiendish Codex II at a vendor's booth at a Con this weekend with no intention of buying the book...shame on me. |
