But in the player's handbook it says you can put barding on any animal. I know the wolf in our party would die a lot less with breast plate barding. If it's possible I could a ruling, I know it would convince my DM if I print it out. |

They can only use these sorts of magic items, unless otherwise specifically stated that it can be used by an animal, animal companion, mount, or familiar: A. One suit of barding B. One collar, necklace or other neck gear C. One cloak. According to my local Triad if an animal can use the magic version it can use the mundane version. So basically it can wear barding. I know I've been using barding on my animal companion for a while now and I have never been queried about it. I use a breastplate on my wolf, your main problem is getting a magical version for your pet. |

Of course leather barding doesn't have an ACP, so it should be good anywhere. |

I've looked at war horses, and they do not have any bonus feats assigned to them. So I would be really interested if you could sheld some light on your statement. |

Description of the "Animal" type, MM, p. 306: "Proficient with no armor unless trained for war." |

| Southernskies09-13-05, 10:10 AM | "Trained for War" effectively is only those animals with "War" in the name. Warhorse, Warpony, Riding Dog (which has a "trained for war" option). |
