How does one acquire a dwarvencraft warhammer, so as to satisfy the entry requirements of the Battlesmith prestige class? Do you have to wait until you find an AR with the item on it?

Thanks,

You do have to find the dwarvencraft warhammer on an AR and purchase it in order to meet one of the prerequisites for the battlesmith prestige class.

My memory may be a bit fuzzy but wasnt there a clirification in the LGCS about that? Something about a dwarf with the requisite skill making their hammer?

Oh right, here it is on Page 36
"Owning a dwarvencraft item satifies the prerequisites for this prestige class. (See races of Stone for the defenition of a Dwarvencraft item) For the purpose of the Battlesmiths special abilities, use of the craft arms and armour feat to enhance a warhammer or Suit of armor counts as an item that the battlesmith has created."

There is no other mention of Battlesmith within the document outside of it being listed as CORE.

That isn't much help, as it might count as a weapon you made, but it still wouldn't be a dwarven crafted item..so you wouldn't qualify for the class. (it helps for the armor skill they have tho).

I guess the 'easiest' way to get the access is to ask for a special mission :)

It is kind of annoying that I will need to search for the access to a dwarven crafted weapon tho..since by level 6 I'd be able to take 10 and make a one if it was allowed :( Oh well, I do understand why the crafting rules are the way they are...

I do have a related question tho. Can you have / make / buy a Dwarven Crafted item made of adamantine or mithral or other special materials? Since a adamantine weapon is automatically considered Masterwork, what would a Dwarven Crafted Adamantine Warhammer cost? I'm guessing 3312 (12 for the warhammer, 3k for adamantine, and 300 for Dwarven crafted (since the normal dwarven crafted item is also masterwork I think).

Special missions never give you access to items in Living Greyhawk.

You need to find a dwarvencraft warhammer in an adventure and purchase said item to satisfy the prerequisites of the prestige class.

To use the battlesmith's special abilities that rely on an item that you've enchanted, you must use the Magic Item Creation rules to enchant your dwarvencraft hammer.

Dwarvencraft items are from Races of Stone, therefore they are not able to be purchased without receiving access on an AR.

I hope this helps.

Then that's a change. I played a special mission about a year ago that gave access to items.

That shouldn't have happened. basically special missions are supposed to allow you to get access to like maybe a pclass or into a meta-org or something like that. you can't get one for like say a holy avenger.
