The european group is LG_Europe_Online@yahoogroups.com You can email them direct, but it's probably easier to go to the yahoogroups site and find it from there. There is are also some american groups, some of which are bigger, but watch out as at least one charges money for organsing games. It doesn't matter which one you try, and several people play with both, but timezones may mean that you end up playing very antisocial hours if you play with a group based in a continent other than your own. Games are usually played using AIM, in the US, or OpenRPG in Europe. OpenRPG can be downloaded free, and is very simple to install and run. You will need: OpenRPG or AIM working on your computer A character a minature - basically a small picture that looks something like your character. Any picture that doesn't contain too many pixels is fine. Mayn people have build up libraries of suitable pictures which they are happy to share. An email address - Most DMs require this so they can contact people who haven't turned up, or send picture files. A snail mail address - or else you won't get your AR. If you've never played Living Greyhawk before, you will need to create a character suitable for living greyhawk, and this will have to be a first level character until it earns enough experience to progress. There are any number of people on these lists who can help you to start. If you get stuck and up against a deadline, I can send you some LG-legal characters as suggestions. PM me with a suitable email address. The main problem with playing on-line is that it is slow - it takes about 1.5 times as long as playing in person, which means that very few games will finish in a single sitting. Another frequent hazard is that people may not turn up. I often simply turn up to games at the last minute, and about 1/3 of the time there is a slot left for me to play. |
