I just got my Polyhedron email.. and printed the Centaur AR..

(that lets me create a centaur character..)

Will there be any variant rules for centaurs, so that they do not need to WASTE feats/skill points to gain access to prestige classes.

Mounted Combat & the ride skill... this feat & skill are useless for all purposes except to gain entry into mounted prestige classes.. many of which would be benificial to a centaur character.

On a side note... (A very disturbin question)...
Can a Centaur "ride" an ashworm from "Sandstorm" ?

By the rules... sure.. since he could take all the relevent feats & skills... The problem would be creating a custom saddle... (that would look just SOSO WRONG....)

You need to follow the Centaur monster class from Races of the Wild.

Yes, I realize you must take all 6 levels of Centaur ... but after that... core & Prestige Classes are my options... The prerequisite skills & feats for those prestige classes is what I was talking about...

will there be any rules on "modifying" the prerequisits for mounted prestige classes, so that they no longer require a centaur character to take a bunch of skills & feats which grant them ZERO benifit (ie ride skill & Mounted Combat Feat).

Removed for various reasons.

Was the review process done through a yahoo group?

If so, I would like to know which one, so I can apply and look through the archives for relevent discussions.

The answer might be in the special Bright Sands campaign sourcebook download which should be out in 2 weeks or so.

Hmmm ... size large ... 4HD ... hits like a cleric ..... half the skill points of a fighter the same level, only two feats .... this is balanced for a normal campaign but for LG .... is that too much of a hit? Hmmm ... modifications are they get scimitar and wear light armor and sheild as opposed to none and the languages are changed .... I guess they centaurs died a little too quickly in the play tests then ... yep still behind the power curve despite the stat points accrued...

Need two levels of fighter before going the way of Order of the Bow Initiate
Damn need a feat to increase that piddly 30' range to something decent - must be something out there

Maybe Dervish - meh - still need two or is that three levels of fighter to collect the feats and the dance and tumble skills are cross class so will eat up a meager skill point pool

Bear warrior????

Monk grapple specialist?

Spiked Chain specialist????

Spiked Chain specialist????

That is what I was thinking. You can have 24+ Str, take improve trip +4 Large size +4.

If someone tries to trip you, 24+str, large size +4, 4 legs +4. Your going to be hard to trip.

Take combat reflexes.

What about a large size spiked chain?(assuming you can get it) 2d6 damage?

With the extra str your bab probably even out with a fighter. Except you probably are a few levels behind in # of attacks.

That's a good point...Since I didn't get the polyhedron (stupid RPGA system) this might have been answered, but as it stands, large weapons are not core access in LG...I'm assuming there are rules to make them available for the 4-legged PCs that will be entering the campaign?

They are not "entering the campaign". There is a specific module arc (12 modules) which will be playable by these PCs. When and whether they will be allowed into the regular campaign is up in the air. It seems likely that PCs who play standard modules (if that is allowed) will not be permitted to continue in the special arc.

If there is going to be only 12 modules you can play the characters in, then why are there already rules that PCs must take the first 6 levels of monstrous humanoid before taking other classes?...All 12 rounds would have to be "Mad God's Key" type xp in order to reach 7th level and beyond...

After the campaign arc... these characters WILL be LG legal !!

So, I will then have a centaur residing in the Bandit Kingdoms..

Surviving then becomes the difficult part..

I wonder when the race is "legal" to play. I'm supposed to play an intro mod this weekend and was thinking of starting the centaur or another Bright Desert type PC.

According to the Centaur AR, you MUST start the centaur PC in the first of the Bright Desert modules.

Right :) But will it be legal by the time April BDG's comes around.

Right. You just can't run it in an intro mod or the like. Unless, of course, by "intro mod" you mean "COR5-06 Slot Zero for BDGD".

What's the starting gold of a Centaur in LG?

I'd figure that will be revealed in the eventual sourcebook for the campaign arc...
