| Howie2302-22-07, 04:43 PM | I found out this weekend that if a Centaur is hit hard enough, it shrinks. Sixth level centaur...critted...died...raised as medium centaur. I would assume he gets a refund as he sells back his equipment to medium size? David |

| Arvagor02-22-07, 07:56 PM | That raises the interesting question .. what happens if you reincarnate a centaur ???????The Circle has never defined a reincarnate table for non-humanoids. Therefore, the spell is worthless to cast on a centaur (it either doesn't come back, or it comes back as something unplayable; either way, the PC is gone). |
| Adolfo_Mondschein02-25-07, 11:18 PM | somehow, armor gets bigger(or smaller in this case) as Centaurs gain/lose levels. If you were using a large two-handed weapon, it seems your out of luck.. unless a ruling has been made otherwise. Magic items usually resize to fit users. I'm pretty sure reincarnate only works on humanoids... |
| kenobi6502-26-07, 12:18 AM | I'm pretty sure reincarnate only works on humanoids... In LG, this is true. The description of the spell indicates that the chart given there is for reincarnating a humanoid, and it is suggested that the DM create a similar chart for a non-humanoid. Since no such chart has been created for LG, the spell simply won't work if cast on a non-humanoid. |

If you were using a large two-handed weapon, it seems your out of luck.. unless a ruling has been made otherwise. Well, the LGCS says that their gear gets bigger (and they're required to pay the cost difference or sell the item), but it doesn't make any mention of items shrinking if they die, lose a level, and thus themselves shrink. (which is why he's asking the question, because it doesn't say :D) |
| Iswald02-27-07, 08:34 AM | I would just not worry about the size change. Make everything medium. When you reach level 6 and become large again, make everything large, paying to enlarge new items. If you sell something in the meantime, sell it for what you've paid into it if it was a large item. Keeping track of the gold spent/earned by changing their size leads to unnecessary bookkeeping and isn't really in the spirit of the game (to have fun, for those who've forgotten). |

It's part of the LGCS though. :D However, you have a good point. They've already paid to make it large when they leveled to 6. The easiest thing might just to ignore the issue, since in another 6 ARs or so they'll be large again. Rather than rebate money, then respend it a few ARs later, there's no effective difference with just ignoring it. |
| Rerednaw02-27-07, 03:36 PM | I'd expect there would be some table variation on this one. However, by the book, it is not free. I think it is one of the tradeoffs you get for getting the benefits of playing a centaur (if there are any, I don't have access myself to the LG version) Stow your Large sized gear for a few AR's. Spend the gp's for medium sized gear. |

As I'm aware you only get one and I don't want to permanantly lose mine when it dies. |

You'd have to use raise dead, resurrection, or similar spells; there's no problem with any of those working on your centaur. The issue is solely with reincarnate. |

| _metz_03-29-07, 10:41 PM | simple answer to this thread, if you are positive it will die and you will have issues, just level it to 7 so resizing won't crop up :P |
| Japangirl03-30-07, 04:47 PM | A character cannot live forever, at least with my expierence in our local area. My rogue hasn't died yet! She's 15 now and really pretty close to retirement. Of course, I've been assured that that is because I'm a girl and get all sad eyed when my character is about to die . . . my bard has died though, so I don't know how accurate that actually is. |
