| Tryon05-08-06, 06:58 PM | Living Greyhawk Centaur Trample is not allowed for Centaurs. Any ideas why not? Any way to change this? Also, They are the only class that I know of that is allowed in LG that could be a HULKING HURTLER (class)--Yet, that, too is not allowed (Restricted List) Ideas/Comments? -T |
| kjenks05-08-06, 07:39 PM | Use your feats and your feets and you can trip pretty well, with excellent advantages on the counter-trip. There's little need for Centaur Trample. As for classes, centaur monk, fighter, barbarian and ranger all work really well, building on the centaur's strengths. A dip into sorcerer to enable entry into the Dragon Disciple prestige class can make your Str go pretty high by level 15. |
| redgamer05-08-06, 08:06 PM | Its not allowed because the circle doesn't want it in the campain, same thing with Hulking Hurler. My guess is that the majority of players don't want hulking hurler either. If you really want to get centuar trample you need to get the circle to move it to the limited or core list. To do this you will need more player support than I suspect you can get and you will likely have to wait until the rules are updated in about 10 months. it is theoretically possible for a dispel confusion to unrestrict the feat but I wouldn't count on it. There are lots of feat/class/etc that are allowed in LG. Some people want less some people want more. Go ahead and petition for the access you want, just make sure to do it nicely. |
| Tryon05-08-06, 08:18 PM | Ok guys--I get the drift. It sounds like things are RESTRICTED until demand makes them 'limited'. Or they are on NPC only list until the same occurs. I figured Centaur Trample might be an undo advantage to the Centaur--fine..but, I was curious why Hulking Hurtler was on the Restricted list when nearly everyone (except level 7 Centaurs or higher) could be it.... Not sure how to petition..but, I sure will do it nicely. Thank you for your comments. T |
| kenobi6505-08-06, 08:25 PM | It sounds like things are RESTRICTED until demand makes them 'limited'. More likely, they're Restricted because the Circle has deemed that they're unbalancing, or inappropriate for the campaign. And, what we're saying is that it's possible to have the restriction lifted, there's probably a good reason why it's Restricted, and even a very pleasant petition may not change that. Or they are on NPC only list until the same occurs. but, I was curious why Hulking Hurtler was on the Restricted list when nearly everyone (except level 7 Centaurs or higher) could be it.... My guess is that it has something to do with the fact that Hulking Hurler is an infamous example of a broken game mechanic. IIRC, it's because the rules for throwing objects don't work well. I've seen discussed on ENWorld how a Hulking Hurler, with a Strength and size boost can lift and throw items that do hundreds, if not thousands, of d6 of damage. |

When RW came out, centaurs weren't allowed as PCs, so it would make sense for the feat to be NPC only. However, the circle is kind of lazy and unwilling to review past decisions to see if they still make sense. The feat itself isn't particularly powerful. Will Centaur Trample ever be allowed? Probably not. During the review period for the last update, discussion on moving Centaur Trample to limited or core wasn't allowed. Without changes to the circle itself, it's unlikely that they'll be willing to accept input on topics such as this next time around either. |

As Circle members noted at the time, the time for input / requesting less-restricted status for rules items is before the review period. If you really want something changed, present a case to your Triad now; don't wait for next year's review period, and then jump up and down and complain that the Circle isn't responsive. |

The fallacy there is, without knowing what's up for review, we can't request to have it changed. |
| Arvagor05-10-06, 09:25 AM | The fallacy there is, without knowing what's up for review, we can't request to have it changed. You don't have to know "what's up for review" -- "what's up" is the items that are brought to the Circle's attention before the LGCS review period. |
