Are there limitations on alignment changing? If I got hit on the head and wanted to start as a monk, switch to chaotic and take a barbarian level, then go lawful good and take a paladin level, would that be legal?

Would it be legal? Absolutely. Would it make sense? Probably not. Besides, many classes stipulate that you lose certain abilities (or at the very least, cannot continue to progress) if your alignment shifts too far away from the class requirements.

Additionally, from a role-playing point of view, does your character have real, compelling motivations for shifting alignment every other level? Or are you just trying to build the uber munchkin?

I was curious. I have no intention of making a paladin/barbarian/monk, but I was curious as to the rules on the subject. The campaign guide said nothing about the subject.

The general perception you'd run into is that is cheesball bordering on cheating...You and your character would certainly be an object of ridicule and gossip (as is another fellow who has done that)...

The unwritten rule is that if it doesn't effect your classes, change away, if it does, you should be informing your triad, and doing the change slowly over several adventures...

It's not required, but there is something of an honor system...

Remember, the world doesn't need another munchkin... ;)
