| Rayous12-03-07, 10:44 AM | I have a character that died awhile back and was reincarnated to a different race. Now that ive gained some levels and gold, I was wondering is there any way of changing race besides the crap shoot that is reincarnate? Could you get an npc to polymorph any object you? How about wish? Or is this the type of thing that can only be accomplished by a special mission (which my triad aren't doing as they cant be bothered with LG ending next year) |
| bitznarf12-03-07, 11:20 AM | Wish or miracle would be likely be able to do it, but it would likely require a special mission as 'change my race' is not one of the listed effects of either spell. |

Wishes or Miracles can be gained via favors and apply to curses and magical diseases. Or some other effect other than death that renders the PC unable to function. So if you were Polymorphed in to a non playable race then you could wish your self back. I've gotten a couple from the Silent Ones you pay twelve T.U.s and the cost of material component. But other meta org's may have different rules. Also you must contact the triad and explain the situation before you use the favor. |
| bitznarf12-07-07, 12:38 PM | I'm not talking about simply obtaining a way to get wish or miracle cast on your behalf, but rather the effect of casting the spell. Changing race is not one of the listed effects of wish or miracle and would thus require campaign documentation. I think. Edit: this is talking specifically about changing ones race to something, not changing back to your original race. |
| welbybumpus12-07-07, 03:55 PM | According to the text of the reincarnate spell itself, a wish or miracle will restore your form (it isn't in the text of the wish or miracle spell, but it doesn't have to be, since it's provided in the spell description of the reincarnate spell). So get a miracle or wish. This can be hard to come by--some favors grant it occasionally--so your best bet is to have a PC cast it, perhaps at a large battle interactive or something (there are a few ways PCs can still cast wish or miracle, the most common I've seen being a cleric under the effects of a candle of invocation). |

This is the stipulation that your respective Triad usually places on the spell. Since Polymorph and Alter Self are closed even to writers changing your race is next to impossible. You could retrain in to Druid and wild shape your self back. There is at least one module out there that could solve your problem. The catch is after playing it in order to go back to original race you have to die again. |

| Vamroc12-08-07, 02:36 PM | They don't all apply only to curses and magical diseases. It depends on the favour. I never said they did I said that's the stipulation associated with a Wish favor 90% of the time. |

| Rayous12-10-07, 01:46 PM | Could being the wrong race be concidered a negative effect? Cause I got affected by an effect that will act as a miracle to cure any negative effects. |

You would probably have to ask whoever sent out that AR - Criegton if it is Core, or the appropriate triad POC if it is regional/metaregional. |

Turning in to an NPC race would apply in this case however your an NPC and once your an NPC you are removed from play. Even if your turned back into a playable race you are still an NPC players often confuse what the spell can do with what the Triad will let it do. How fair would it be to write a mod that grants a Wish that could be named by the player. You could hold on to it and insta kill any one creature no matter how many HD it had. So while yes you can use a Wish for a wide range of effects the Triad will never allow access to a Wish that can be made by the player. :mage: |

Yup. |
| Maesto12-10-07, 06:55 PM | Where are all of these wish/miracle favours coming from?! I've received over 300 ARs, and I'm fairly sure that not one mentions a wish/miracle. Only one mentioned a true resurrection. |

| bitznarf12-11-07, 10:30 AM | I've seen wish available *during* a mod (one PC traded an eye for the casting). Said PC is now (due entirely to in game events, not backstory) a eunuch and *he* is pregnant with one hell of a beastie (we don't really know what it is yet). |

| bitznarf12-11-07, 11:27 AM | Heh, 3 different mods there, you could get lucky yet ;) |
| Hariman12-11-07, 08:36 PM | They're out there. I've seen several, myself. I've seen at least one myself. It might have cost 12 TUs, but you could either remove a curse for no TU cost or have the wish you wished tonight. Of course, you could also completely miss the wish favor and still complete the mod, so it's not something that everybody would get. Heck, I didn't get it at all. Actually, that was a "Remove Curses or Negative Spell Effects" favor. So it's not that powerful. Just very useful. |
| _metz_12-11-07, 08:40 PM | I've seen access to Miracle or Gate. Still not sure what to with it with my pc... Was thinking Gate for the Celestial to wish for some stat boosters but I am not sure... |
