A few things were missed in this (as some pointed out) and a wider swath was hit with it then intended. An update will be coming out for it here soon along with an effective date sometime after June 1st. So sorry for any heartattacks or loss of hair involved in reading the article but we will get it tweaked here real quick.

Dave, thanks for putting in the update -

I am impressed by the quickness of the Circle's actions in rectifying this situation.

The revised update certainly reflects your (author's) and the circle's intent in dealing with how the curses impact the play of the game, especially with respect to those that "kept" the curse out of sheer power gaming munchkinism. AT the same time, it doesn't have a significant impact on low level PC's that havnen't had a chance to play "A man with nothing" yet.

The storyline of this series is excellent, and I enjoyed playing Ashes and Fury. My local group didn't have someon to run the third mod until recently (it was pretty scary there when the highest level cleric in your area (3rd) is the one with the curse!) Now that we're finally tall enough to play APL6, we plan on going through A Man with Nothing.

Incidentally, it's kind of ominous that there's a year 4 module in this series - I look forward to seeing how that concludes....

For those critics out there, It's important to note the sheer amount of time the circle/triad/author's put into this organization. Yes, certainly mistakes / ovesites happen but it's important to voice your concerns and suggestions in a constructive manner. It takes up far too much of my time just to organize 1-2 tables a week for a local group - I shudder to think what Con organizers or Circle / Triad members go through.

Thanks again for the update

Steven,

The clarification could use some clarification. :)

"If you have the Mark of Avernus from COR2-07 'Ashes of Innocence' only and have played or judged COR3-08 'A Man with Nothing' then the Mark of Avernus goes away.

"If you have played COR3-08 'A Man with Nothing', then only the character that played that event can have any of the curses, and none of your other characters can gain them in the future."

So in the case of a player who played the first two mods and received the curses, but played the third with another PC, what happens? Do the curses go away for the first character or does the new version of the curse kick in for him?

I know of one person in this situation who did this, because his PC with the curses was too high for the mustered table. And without him the table wouldn't be legal.

Thanks,
Angus Smith
who thankfully got rid of those curses at the first opportunity
