Ex: Marshal 1 has an aura that grants a circumstance bonus to Trip/Sunder/Bull Rush/Disarm attempts. Marshal B has an aura that grants a circumstance bonus to all Strength based checks. Does Marshal 1's aura stack with Marshal B's aura when making a Trip attempt. Trip is listed as a Strength check that is opposed by the defender's Str or Dex. |

Circumstance bonuses stack with all other bonuses, including other circumstance bonuses, unless they arise from essentially the same source. " Quoted from www.d20srd.org I would say those auras do not stack because they are "essentially the same source" in the fact that they are the same class ability, just from different people. Also, in the auras section it mentioned that "All bonuses granted by a marshal's auras are circumstance bonuses that do not stack with each other." The way this is worded would also make me think those two auras do not stack. |

| LachlarlanIII02-07-07, 11:26 AM | I would be inclined to agree if two Marshals were trying to grant the same aura. Ex: 2 Marshals trying to grant Motivate Dex. However, the auras in question are conditionally different. One grants bonuses to Str checks, the other to Trip/Disarm/Sunder/Bull Rush attempts. While the Minor Aura ability is constant with all Marshals, the aura subset is not and should stack if they offer different bonuses as do the above auras. |

| jstorrie02-08-07, 11:11 PM | So, maybe. A marshal's aura. That means a marshal's own auras don't stack with themselves - ie, the minor and the major aura of any one particular marshal. I've always ruled and seen it ruled that a marshal's own major and minor don't stack with each other, and two marshals can stack as long as they aren't using the same auras. |

I think it is sort of odd to rule that they stack if they are from different Marshals, though I can see the argument. For example, Marshal A uses Minor aura: Force of Will (+Cha to will saves) and Major aura: Resilient troops (+1 to all saves). Clearly these do not stack. To say that they stack if they are from two different Marshals but not if they are from the same Marshal seems odd. I imagine if mods had you running into NPCs that had multiple Marshals in the party, there might be a bit more support for the argument that they shouldn't stack. :D |
