Simple question that I couldn't find an answer to...Can I combine multiple favors to get an item on the cheap?

For instance, I have one favor to access a PHB item, and two favors for 10 percent off. Could I combine those favors to get, say, a Belt of Giant Strength +4 for 12,960 gp?

Well, setting aside the fact that the Belt of Giant Strength isn't a PHB item (I assume you mean "DMG")...

It probably depends on the specifics of the favors. I'm not sure how multiple favors would stack on this one, esp. the two "10% off" ones. I'm assuming that they're favors from two different individuals / groups...and I'm not sure how two different individuals could use their pull to get you a discount on the same item.

If they're favors from regional modules, you should contact your Triad, and ask them.

I've had several of those favors and asked the same question. The answer I got was that unless a favor says it can be combined, it cannot.

Basically, the favors tend to read "SO AND SO will acquire SUCH AND SUCH an item worth UP TO X AMOUNT OF GOLD (or worth less than X amount of gold -- important distinction I discovered) at a Y% DISCOUNT" or something to that effect. So, if Mr. Smith will help you acquire any item out of the DMG worth up to 20,000 gold pieces at a 10% discount and Mr. Jones will help you acquire any item out of the DMG worth up to 20,000 gold at a 10% discount, they do so independantly. They will not work together for a 20% discount.

There are a few scenarios that let you combine discount favors, but they tend to specifically say so (one for the Lorinar's in the Duchy of Urnst comes to mind).

Ok, that's good enough for me. Thanks.

And yeah, I originally meant "DMG item"...That's what I get for posting after midnight.
