Craft (mundane) Item [Archive] - Wizards Community

I wanted to make sure I had the LG rules correct for crafting normal
items as I have a player that will be doing so in the next scenario I
run. As I understand it, crafting a normal item (such as a long
sword) follows the rules for the Craft skill as outlined in the 3.5
PHB and there is nothing special/specific to LG for doing so. I ask
because the only information about crafting items I can find is about
crafting magic items, not mundane.

Specifically, LGCS 4.2, page 55 outlines the basics of TU cost and how
many days each TU gives you to work with (five per TU) and specifies
that you can only spend more than 1 TU if the item would take you more
than 1 TU to craft due to cost (1,000 gp per day). But using the
normal craft skill rules mundane items could easily take you many
weeks or months to craft (a masterwork items being a good example).

So are there any rules outlined or can you take 20 TUs to make your
own masterwork sword?

Any help would be appreciated and if I overlooked something in my
reading of the LGCS which should be obvious my apologies in advance.

Happy gaming

Sorry, but in Living Greyhawk, you can not use the Craft skill to create mundane items at all (see pg 51, under "Benefits from Nonadventuring Activities"). Aside from whatever rare use in a mod it see, LG allows you to use the skill only for creating random bits of cash between adventures.

This has been a sore spot for many players for quite some time. Common arguments againt allowing normal mundane craft rules have (IMHO) been weak at best. We've brought it up each time the LGCS is scheduled to be revamped now for almost three years, but so far, no such luck. Maybe this time around.

Thanks, SteveMND.

I personally don't care too much. A player asked me Saturday morning after a Nyrond adventure I judged. We thumbed through the LGCS, but none of could locate the reference - thanks. Now I know for future questions.

Happy gaming.

Yeah it is a shame as it would be incredibly easy to adjust the MIC rules to include mundane item creation. Likewise it would be easy to adjust the MIC forms.

Mind you those MIC forms need adjustment anyway considering it makes you list senario name multiple times on the same page and the senario CANNOT change! It's pretty bad, just low on the totem pole I guess.
