Trying to understand the rules here and decide if I want to go with the Magic Creation Feats. This is what I understand so far -

*You have to spend ONE TU per 5,000 gp (max). During this TU it can be broken down into 5 items (or days) with a max of 1,000 gp price. If the item being created costs more the 5,000gp it costs additinal TUs.

*You can create anything you meet the prerequisites for AND have the item on a AR cert. If you do NOT have the items certed you must be +2 levels of requisite level.

What I think is right -
- As I player I can make most +1 Armor, Weapons, protection devices at level 3. If I want to stick on more exotic effects I'd either need a AR cert for that effect or wait till level 5.
- When I want to add another +1 (to make it a +2 item) I'd need to wait till level 6 and have the AR cert or wait till level 8 without the AR Cert.

Now the questions -
* If I wanted to put on a effect that has a price listed of (+1 level) on a already enchanted weapon armor. How would I determine the level requirements?
Example: Have a +1 Long sword and want to enchant it with Keen Blade. I understand this would then be considered a +2 enhancement bonus. Level requirement 6 if I have a cert that allows Keen Blade. Level 8 if I do not.
But what if I want to put that Keen Blade enhancement on a already enchanter +2 Weapon? I know I'll have to pay the price as if I was getting a +3 weapon but since I could already put that effect on +1 weapon would I still be able to do it at level 6 (if AR certed) or level 8? or do I have to wait 3 more levels?

* If there is no level requirement as a prerequisite, just has the creation feat and a spell requirement. When can you make that item using a scroll/potion? (As stated in DMG pg 282 "Creating Magic Items - paragraph 2)

Thanks for any help.

Craft Magic Arms and Armor is not covered by the "+2 caster level" rule like Craft Wondrous Item is. In order to craft any item with that feat, you will need to have access (the LGCS gives access to +1 enhancement bonuses).

Also, in Living Greyhawk, the "caster level" is considered a prerequisite. So, some examples:

+1 longsword: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Caster level 5 (prereq for the feat).

+2 longsword: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Caster level 6, access to purchase or make a +2 weapon.

For other enhancements, you use the highest minimum caster level of either the enhancement bonus or an additional bonus.

+1 longsword, keen: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Caster level 10, Keen Edge, access to purchase or make keen weapon.

+2 longsword, merciful: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Caster level 6, Cure Light Wounds, access to purchase or make +2 weapon, access to purchase or make merciful weapon.
