| Puggle Halfwine10-22-06, 11:10 AM | Hey guys, If you played a character with two levels of Deepwarden (allowing you to add your Constitution modifier to AC instead of your Dexterity modifier), and you had a Constitution modifier greater than the Maximum Dexterity Bonus of the armour, would you still add your full Constitution modifier to AC or just the part less than the Maximum Dexterity Bonus for the armour? Example: Would a Deepwarden wearing Full Plate with 18 Constitution add +4 to his Armour Class from Constitution, then +8 from Full Plate? |
| copper_wyrmling10-22-06, 11:57 AM | Search the LGCS for "Deepwarden", your question is answered there. (If you don't want to search the LGCS: no, it doesn't work, the max Dex of the armor caps your Con bonus to AC.) |
| zoinks6910-22-06, 04:13 PM | Still usually a better option that Dex for Dwarves :) Just find some mithril or celestial armor and you are set. |
| Puggle Halfwine10-22-06, 11:46 PM | Whops, normally I'm good with stuff like that. Cool, thanks. Looks like it's back to the mage-armour drawing board! |
| Samwise10-23-06, 07:57 PM | Cool, thanks. Looks like it's back to the mage-armour drawing board! Argent savant + abjurant champion + errata so abjurant champion works = AC 34 from greater mage armor and shield. I'd add something about access, but that would just giarantee you get it at your next game it seems. :P |
| Maesto10-23-06, 11:52 PM | abjurant champion??? Where's that from? |
| Samwise10-23-06, 11:53 PM | Complete Mage. But it contains a major error. |
| Arvagor10-24-06, 12:46 AM | ... And since someone will ask, namely that one of its "main features" -- Abjurant Armor -- doesn't really work! :ahem: The class features states,Any time you cast an abjuration spell that grants you an armor bonus or shield bonus to AC, you can increase the value of the bonus by your abjurant champion class level. Abjurant champions rely on mage armor, shield, and similar spells instead of actual armor. The only problem is, mage armor isn't from the Abjuration school (although IMO, it probably should be); it's Conjuration (Creation) [Force], and therefore gains no benefit from the abjurant champion's class ability. :uh-huh: :nonono: Several people have also pointed out that they have yet to find any Abjuration spell that actuall grants an armor bonus to AC (when they do grant an AC bonus, it is usually a deflection bonus). |

In 4E! :hides: |
