| Wheepingwillow01-07-05, 12:23 AM | hi again..i was wondering if it pays to do the luxury lifestyle..i am playing a halfling druid and i have been doing the LL.since i have the best armor and weapon at the start of the game my money is sitting there collecting dust.the +4 is nice on some of the skills.but a few players i have chatted with says.if you go to cons like gencon and other cone held around the us.if you play game and some people see that you are doing the LL thay might invite you into a special club..like a private country club.i would like to know if that is true.or am i just wasting my money? |

For a PC who is built around Charisma based skills, it might make sense to purchase luxury lifestyle. For a druid, no. In fact, many of the druids I've seen use the live off the land option to avoid paying lifestle entirely. I have never heard of a "club" for PCs who are paying luxury lifestyle. You can't transfer money or items between two PCs in LG, so what could a private club do for you? I think someone is pulling your leg. Ed |

Something will come up and you'll wish you still had that 600+gp that you didn't get anything for. As Sieylianna, most Druids live off the land due to thier normally high survival skill and enjoy getting a nice 12-48GP credit after every mod, which can add up quickly for most lower cost items like scrolls or potions. Of course, if you've already gotten your GP laid out and know exactly what your going to eventually buy your druid, that's fine to do. I have an enobled paladin, The Honorable Lord Locké No'Tero, who takes high lifestyle simply because he's a noble and decides to act like it. :D But you don't need to listen to me, play your character however you like to, so long as your having fun! :) |

Metaorgs can be money and time pits, but I really like, for example, that my merchant character has luxury lifestyle when she's near her place of business and has to make do with less when on the road. She's a sorcererss with a lot of bluff and high CHA, the luxury lifestyle means her other social skills are "up to snuff" in her home region. Yeah, she loses money on it. Sometimes you just gotta waste money to fit your concept of your character. If you are paying as you go, I would only upgrade lifestyle in mods where you're in diplomatic situations....city/investigative/negotiation type modules, not ones where you are marching through the Bright Desert to investigate a tower full of undead. The blurb will often give a clue as to when it might be good to turn cash into better social skills. |

If you’re going to play a wilderness mod called Delve into the Underdark it might be a waste of money to pay luxury upkeep. If you’re going to play a city mod called The Burgher’s Missing Daughter then it might pay to be a little hoity-toity. I’ve got a special mount that costs 100gp per TU to keep, so I don’t pay any more than standard, but with a CHA of 10, it might not help much if I did. That’s just my 2¢ |
