| Prochytes10-30-05, 09:09 AM | The standard multi-classing penalties apply. You can have as many (or as few) Prestige Classes as you like, though; they do not count for multi-classing purposes. |
| King Kashue10-30-05, 01:37 PM | Indeed they do...The highest penalty I have seen anyone take was 60%, but he was intentionally slowing his character's advancement... |
| JohnduBois10-30-05, 02:14 PM | I saw one character who was planning on taking a 100% penalty, effectively allowing him to play at APL 6, 8, or 10 indefinitely... he at that point had only acquired a 60% penalty, though... |

He's gonna have a hell of a time, since that's not possible in LG (he might want to invest in a calculator)... To do that, all your classes would have to be 2 levels apart (and none a favored class)...E.g., Rog1 / Ftr 3 / Bar5 / Wiz 7 / Sor 9...That's 5 separations so 20% each = 100% penalty...Except the character would retire out of LG after the 4th separation since he's already lvl 16 after the Wiz 7 (or whatever class they throw in there)... |
| JohnduBois10-30-05, 03:35 PM | According to the PHB, page 60: "Your multiclass character takes a -20% penalty to XP for each class that is not within one level of his or her highest level class." I just started playing recently, so I'm not sure if the rules were different in a previous version. Maybe it changed between 3.0 and 3.5? |

I just started playing recently, so I'm not sure if the rules were different in a previous version. Maybe it changed between 3.0 and 3.5? Ah, you're right...I generally don't pay attention to the rule since none of my LG chars have penalties (and it's not a rule that LG judges need to be "hawks" on) and I don't use the rule in home games... So to get the 100% penalty (and still be a somewhat useful character) something like a High Elf, Rog3/Bar1/Ftr1/Swash1/Rgr1/Hexblade1 (I needed something with +1 BAB at first level ;)) 8th level, permanently...Eventually you'd have a lot of gear :D |
| Amurayi10-30-05, 05:27 PM | Barbarian and Hexblade at the same time doesn`t make sense though. :) Unknown, Male Elf, High Rog3/Ex-Bbn1/Ftr1/SwBklr1/Rgr1/HexBl1: CR 8; Medium Humanoid (Elf); HD 3d6+3(Rogue) , 1d12+1(Barbarian) , 1d10+1(Fighter) , 1d10+1(Swashbuckler) , 1d8+1(Ranger) , 1d10+1(Hexblade) ; hp 76; Init +3; Spd 40; AC:13 (Flatfooted:10 Touch:13); Atk +12/7 base melee, +10/5 base ranged; SQ: Immunity: Sleep Effects (Ex), Low-light Vision (Ex), +2 Saves vs. Enchantment Spells and Effects; AL LN; SV Fort +10, Ref +8, Will +2; STR 20, DEX 16, CON 12, INT 8, WIS 8, CHA 8. | JohnduBois10-30-05, 05:31 PM | As a roleplaying element, no. To get full BAB with one level in a bunch of classes, yes. |

And exactly how do barbarian and hexblade not work together? (granted a funky RP, but nothing in the classes makes them mutally exclusive)... Barbarians need to be non-lawful, and hexblades need to be non-good, for LG that leaves either CN or True Neutral... Hit the badguy with a curse, rage and fight... |
