I had an idea to make a Human Sorcerer that uses the draconic feats from Complete Arcane, and is going to multiclass into a cleric of Bahamut. Hes got the feats: Draconic heritage (Gold Dragon) and Draconic Skin. his ability points are STR:10, DEX:16, CON:12, INT:8, WIS:14, CHA:14.

Spells:
0: Disrupt undead, Detect magic, light, and somthing w/ fire energy
1: Mage Armor, Burning hands

I think its a cool idea but i wanted to know what other players said. I'm open to any sugggestions

Also, at third level I wanted to have him take Draconic Power and i was wondering if there was any 0-level spells that use fire as its energy type that i can take now?

Thanks in advance!

I admit Draconic isn't something I have had alot of experience with,

but I don't believe Draconic Skin is a feat allowable at 1st level , I believe you would have to wit til 3rd level..

Draconic Heritage (metallic) is listed in the LGCS as an exception to the normal rules and is available at 1st..

hm, at the moment i am compiling a list of spells with the [fire] descriptor for my bright desert wizard with the "searing spell" feat and regret that there are no zero level spells at all, for level 1 you get "burning hands", and from the "spell compendium" "blades of fire" and the "orb of fire, lesser", even in "sandstorm" there are no zero or first level [fire] spells. it is really annoying.

i plan my wizard to take "energy substiution [fire]" later on to get every energy type spell as a [fire] spell when needed (half for for role playing reasons half for taking advantage of the benefits of "searing spell" all the way).

ps: if anyone knows of any such spell in some other book i would be interested to hear about it.

pps: why are you giving dex the most focus?? i would either take wis or cha as a prime stat. or bring my con to a healthy 14.

Hey mate, it sounds like you're describing my own Sorceress there. :) Here's my build. I strongly recommend the Jinnbond feat if you can take it.

Adelia Brassmore, Baklunish "human"

1st - Sandstorm Sorcerer

Feats:

Draconic Heritage (Brass)
Jinnbond (Efreeti) <+4 on saves vs fire, +2 to save DC's for fire spells you cast as a sorcerer, requirements: Baklunish human. See Dragon Magazine 319>

2nd - Sandstorm Sorcerer

3rd - Sandstorm Sorcerer

Feats:

Draconic Spell Power

4th - Sandstorm Sorcerer

5th - Sandstorm Sorcerer

6th - Sandstorm Sorcerer

Feats:

Searing Spell

Old ability points are STR:10, DEX:16, CON:12, INT:8, WIS:14, CHA:14.
New ability points are STR:10, DEX:12, CON:14, INT:8, WIS:14, CHA:16
Is that better?

Also whats the differnce between a sandstorm sorcerer and a regular one?

Also I may change my race to Baklunish just for that Jinnbond feat. But if i dont whats a good feat?

But now i am have a problem w/ my armor class...its 11...even w/ Mage Armor its only 15...what do i do?

stats are much better :)

a "sandstorm" sorcerer is a character built for the bright desert special adventure arc (so he has to start his career with "blood on bright sands" [yea or use a fastplay character later, but they are not changable])

Jinnbond (1st level only) - select one type of genie
<snip>
Efreeti: +4 on saving throws against fire effects; +2 to the DC of saving throws on fire descriptor spells you cast as a sorcerer
<snip>
(from dragon #319)

you have to be a baklunish human to take this feat, look at lgcs 596 p. 12.

no matter what you do, your armor class is unimportatnt, it's the job of the party fighters/clerics/rogues/druids/monks etc. to keep away the badies from you. buy some scrolls of "mage armor" and cast them - on the party's monk or rogue - if you get melee attacked on low levels go totally defense, and kick the a** of your frontmen.

The stats are better in general. But I would suggest that you plan the character out all the way. It's not carving it in stone, but it's having a plan to default towards should nothing change as you play the character.

For example are you planning on Sorc4/Clc3 into Mystic theurge? Or are you thinking Sorc1/ClericX?

If it's the former then I would certainly plan on atleast 1 practiced spell caster feat (for the sorcerer) if not for both. This will cut into later available feats making the first choices key.

If it's the later then something like jinnbond is NOT for you as you won't be casting much in the way of sorcerer spells.

Likewise the plan will effect your choices of sorcerer known spells.

Besides having to be a Sandstorm character and having access to spells from that book, the only difference is that they can have a horned lizard as a familiar (+2 to will saves). A Sandstorm character that is a regular sorceror also has access to the same spells and only misses out on the familiar option.

Well, there's also Sandstorm feats that the PC would have access to. If you're interested in fire-related items, for example, there are two [Metamagic] feats:
Fiery Spell - Your fire magic is bolstered, further scorching your enemies.
Searing Spell - Your fire spells are so hot that they can damage creatures that normally have resistance or immunity to fire.

Hi

Sunstroke is the spell for Sorcerors. 2D6 Non-lethal damage, Fort partial, or become subject to heatstroke/fatigue. (Special precautions before any healing).

Cast on someone already fatigued, become exhausted.

My understanding is that, since the Spell Compendium has been released, it errata'd Sunstroke to be a 3rd level spell... note that I don't have the Spell Compendium on me, just that's what I was told when I last played my Sorceress.

Sunstroke isn't in SpC and wasn't renamed. There are spells in SpC that seem like they could have come from Sandstorm, but they all appear to have had different sources when I look.

There's no SpC spell called Sunstroke. There is a SpC spell called Heatstroke:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/spells

heatstroke SpC 113 transmutation druid 3 medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) target

I can't find my SpC at the moment, but the Sandstorm spell, Sunstroke, is quite different: Necormancy, Range Close, Druid 1, Sorc/Wiz 1, Summer 2.

The Web list of renamed spells does not say that Heatstroke replaces Sunstroke:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20051202a&page=2

Unless the SpC itself specifically says that Heatstroke replaces Sunstroke, I think they're two different spells.
