| Necrochaos12-08-06, 04:22 PM | At a con, stealing a quick druid build to play an intro mod: ou can if you don't have the available slot. As an example, the following build: Human Druid 7/Nature's Warrior 5/Warshaper 4 Str 14, Dex 10, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 16, Cha 8 1: Druid 1: Power Attack, Track 2: Druid 2 3: Druid 3: Improved Bullrush 4: Druid 4 5: Druid 5 6: Druid 6: Natural Spell 7: Nature's Warrior 1: +3 Damage 8: NW 2 9: Warshaper 1: Shock Trooper 10: Warshaper 2 11: Warshaper 3 12: Warshaper 4: Leap Attack 13: NW 3: DR 3/- 14: NW 4 15: NW 5: Practiced Spellcaster: +5 Natural Armor 16: Druid 7 The Leap Attack really isn't that amazingly useful until you can get Shock Trooper going. And I'd rather have Natural Spell at level 9(so as to have spell access) than Leap Attack(+7-8 damage in charge situations) Leap attack isn't available. Any idea for a substitution? Is this build still legal? |

| PaulH12-08-06, 08:46 PM | Hi Depending on what you're trying to do, I prefer Master of Many Forms to Nature Warrior. 1) Druid; Alertness, Endurance 2) Druid 3) Druid; Power Attack 4) Druid 5) Druid (Wildshape) 6) Warshaper; Natural Spell 7) Master Many Forms 8) MMF (Can transform into Lge & Giants - Troll anyone)? 9) MMF (Fast Wildshape, Monsrous Humanoid) 10) MMF (Fey, Tiny) 11) MMF (Vermin) 12) MMF (Aberration, Huge); Cleave 13) MMF (Plant, Gain Extraordinary Abilities of Wildshaped Creature) 14) MMF (Ooze. Diminuitive) 15) MMF (Elemental) The advantages are that each lvl of MMF grants extra use of Wildshape, & you can cast spells in that form. (You also gain ability to communicate with others of that type). So shape into Troll, cast Shillelagh, do damage. (Or just shape into lge creature & rip everything apart). (Plus gain Troll's regen. etc, but not until 13th lvl) Otherwise just go Bear Warrior, taking levels of Barbarian, Extra Rage as feat, and replace MMF with Bear Warrior. Cheers Paul H |

Things like character build discussions that are not in the "LG Character" sub-forum. I know that it's me that is over-reacting, but I just get itchy in my head, fume unnecessarily, groan in frustration. What can I do to feel less aggrivation about matters like mis-placed threads on these forums? Honestly? |
| Necrochaos12-09-06, 08:10 AM | I haven't played a druid in LG before and I rarely play it in a homeplay game. Just looking to see what I could do with the build presented in an old post. I know that Leap Attack isn't legal anymore, so I just thought I would check to see what other druids are going. I've heard of the master of many forms build, but I have heard it's a tough build early on as well. Takes a while and a lot of hits until you start shaping into big uglies. Just trying to find something interested. Bard and Druid are the only two character classes I don't have in LG (well out of the PHB). JUst looking for some extra knowledge from those who are better at this than I |
| Mommy was an Orc12-09-06, 10:02 AM | The build is still legal except for that. As I noted, there's not a huge reason to be enthralled by Leap Attack. They banned the wrong thing - instead of banning the stuff weighing the camel down, they banned the straw. Heedless Charge from Shock Trooper(or Reckless whatever from Warchanter) are the real problems. The problem with MoMF in this situation is that you don't get the kaboom of the build - turn yourself into a Dire Lion and get huge amounts of damage per paw and bite with a Pounce and you don't have the feats to substitute. This kind of build is trying to do 100+ damage per charge by about 9th. By the way, I'd knock the Wisdom down to 15 and raise Con to 14. Gives you a bit of 'party tank' status until Wildshape/Charge. Just move Practiced Spellcaster up to 12th. |
