Hey guys,

My main character levelled right at the end of last year, but I hadn't decided what level to take with him. Is it legal to select "druid" now and get a rebuild? Further, is this ethical? I was going to take druid anyway, but a full rebuild would definately help as this was my first LG character and there are a few mistakes I would sorely love to correct.

Legal? Yes. When your character leveled, taking a level of druid was a legal option, so it remains a legal option, even now that the possibility of rebuilding has been introduced. Your character will (of course) have to keep at least one level of druid in his new build.

Ethical? No. Taking a level of druid so you can rebuild your character is a very cheesy option that takes advantage of the Circle's generousity. If you really want a level of druid, you can take the level now without changing other aspects of your character. This would demonstrate the highest standardds of ethical behavior.

Of course circle could have require that those people who took a single level of druid at there very last game before the new lgcs apply to triad or something to cover this exact scenario but it would have been more trouble than its worth.

I asked/pointed out this situation here:

If you were planning on doing it anyway, why would the issue even arise?

However, adding a level of druid that you must keep is a waste if you weren't planning on it. I don't see anything wrong with this, I think the number of people who can take "unfair" advantage of this is small.

I was planning on rebuilding to druid 5/fighter 4, but I've ultimately decided against it after some reflection. Frankly, despite the massive power boost such a rebuild would have given me (and my powergaming side was extremely pleased with this!), it's just not worth that guilty, nagging feeling that I "cheated". It would ultimately make the character less fun to play, which is the point, ne?

My character leveled last module, but already had 11 levels of druid, so it wasn't a concern. Now the issue is whether to stick to straight druid or go for a druid/wizard/arcane heirophant. I really liked AH when it came out, but dropping from a tiger animal companion back to a leopard led me to reject the idea when I had the chance at 3.5 conversion.

Unfortunately, I still haven't seen access to the natural bond feat, so it remains an issue at this time. I probably have 6-8 weeks to decide.
