| bhale18712-28-06, 10:59 PM | I read in the LG deities v2 that Kelanen's worshipers can be of any race. Also it says that he appears as a humanoid form and his true race and origins are unknown, but his core worshipers are humans. Considering those facts does it seem reasonable for a wood elf cleric to worship him? I am just so tired of every elf cleric being a worshiper of Corellon Lorethian, and Kelanen's "motto" would make for some good RPing. |
| LGMoses12-28-06, 11:52 PM | Come to the Yeomanry and have your elves worship Phaulkon, the suel god of archery. Thats what they worship here. :elf: |
| NiTessine12-29-06, 12:00 AM | Why not Solonor Thelandira, the elven god of archery? |
| Morgen12-29-06, 12:37 AM | You know I don't think I've actually met an elf that worships Corellon Lorethian in LG. Lots of Lady Moonbow and so forth. If the dieties document says that anyone can worship Kelanen, then you certainly can make an elven cleric. Always feel free to assume your character isn't the 100% typical elf/dwarf/whatever. There are tons of reasons that they could worship a typically human god and only the most strict gods are going to ignore them. |

If by motto you mean being able to fly and teleport with free weapon focus with any one sword then yeah I agree with you ;) I have a lvl 6 wood elf cleric of Kelanen that is great fun to play! I went with 18 str, 8 chr (to date she's never attempted to turn undead), and item creation feats. She's lookin better and better every level (except in appearance of course). Plus its fun having low chr - she flirts with everybody and doesn't take rejection lightly. The way I play her is that her appearance is actually pretty good - its her personality that drives her charisma down. fun fun fun. |
| gomeztoo12-29-06, 06:01 AM | I don't know that many Corellon worshipping elf PCs either. Ehlonna seems more popular. |
| bhale18712-29-06, 08:39 AM | I can't speak to commonality of Corellon's followers in LG because I am too new in the campaign. However, in all the area games I've been involved with (at least since the forgotten realms comic book series in the late 80s) it seems like a good 80%+ of the elf cleric PCs I encountered were Corellon's worshipers. I was going for a melee (war domain) cleric, thats why I skipped Thelandira. About the motto, it is Mastery of the sword is mastery of the self. Relentlessly practise your skills with all kinds of blades until you are competent with them all. Eschew all extremes, for only when you are at the center are you truly balanced and at your best. Bring down those in power who carry too strongly the taint of Four Dooms: Chaos, Evil, Good, and Law, for balance is the true ideal. .......but yea free weapon focus on chosen sword along with the teleport and fly spells in the future is nice too :D |
| Morgen12-30-06, 01:27 PM | Well Corellon is the main elvish diety, so that shouldn't be too big of a surprize. |
| LGMoses12-30-06, 11:21 PM | I don't know that many Corellon worshipping elf PCs either. Ehlonna seems more popular. its probably because he doesn't give the most +'s |
| LGMoses12-30-06, 11:23 PM | So who exactly is this Kelanen Hero god fellow? |
| kenobi6512-31-06, 12:08 AM | what domain grants the fly and teleport? How do u get limited domains at 1st level? Ummm, Travel? PHB, p. 188. As Kelanen is only a hero-god, he only has two domains (Travel and War). While you don't get any choices, those two are pretty nice ones, which is probably why there are so many stinkin' clerics of Kelanen in the campaign. :) I may be mistaken, but I don't think there are any "limited domains" in LG. There's a line in the Deities document: "All of the domains mentioned in this document should be considered Core access." You get to pick 2 of your deity's domains, and automatically get the spells (even if they're not in the PHB) right away (one of the few exceptions to the "3rd level rule"). |
| LGMoses12-31-06, 02:11 AM | yeah, i just read that. had a player from a different region move in and i just hopped out of another campaign so I'm a little screwy on the LG rules sometimes. Forget how they work. |

| bhale18712-31-06, 09:21 AM | Yeah, the x-bows and bladed only weapons is certainly a factor, but the free martial feat and weapon focus on a sword is awful tempting. I am new to LG so I did not realize Kelanen clerics were so common here, that is a bit discouraging. I hate to play cookie cutter characters. |

I am new to LG so I did not realize Kelanen clerics were so common here, that is a bit discouraging. I hate to play cookie cutter characters. my own divine characters: cleric of phaulkon, cleric of obad-hai, druid of nature, my monk is planned with going pious templar of zodal and my short spear thrower will become a pious templar of vogan eventually :) other frequently encountered deities include: pelor (for the mightiest cheese prestige class around), sehanine moonbow, wee jas, heironius, tritherion, kelanen, deleb, moradin (just personal experience might differ greatly due to other groups and regions). it is just that for a hero god, kelanen has a tremendous success :) the problematic part about playing a cleric of kelanen is that you have to be careful about your playstyle and role in the party, a cleric is MORE than a melee fighter, so if you are the only cleric and other tanks are there, it might be wise to brush up more the healing, party buffing and support side instead of insisting on being the frontline. and you have to be careful what feats to pick during your career, "domain spontaneity" is one of the primary choices for anyone with the travel domain ;) even if you would like to take some more combat orientated feats. ciao martin m. |

Not too many cheesy swashbuckler/corellan grey elf builds over your way then ? They are popular here. The build adds strength dexterity and intelligence to damage rolls and when combined with something like Dervish can be very nasty. |
