| MatBlack02-09-07, 04:00 PM | my apologies if this has already been covered (i'm sure it must have, but i can't find it). are there any plans to adapt expedition to the demonweb pits for LG? not looking for a timetable or anything, just whether it's planned. i ended up eating the first 3 fantastic locations and red hand by reading them before the adapted mods were announced, and i just don't want to read through this particular one and dq myself from playing it. |
| Britt02-09-07, 04:01 PM | I don't know a 100% answer right now, but assume they will all be adapted until you hear otherwise from us. I believe it is being adapted, but that's not 100%. |
| trollbill02-09-07, 05:07 PM | My guess is that is will 'conveniently" be adapted about the same time your RHoD characters that just reached 9th (the starting level of Expedition to the Demonweb Pits) will have TUs to start playing again. :D Actually, Britt, do we have any timelines for this years Adaptables yet? |
| Britt02-09-07, 05:49 PM | I might be able to dig it up in some posts, but I honestly don't have the time right now :/ |
| scon4002-09-07, 08:47 PM | We don't have a timetable because we can't even decide on which ones to adapt until we get our hands on a copy. And then we have to decide who will do the adaptation and how long it is likely to take to complete. But definitely assume we're going to adapt something until we say otherwise. |
| TheBlackFlail02-09-07, 11:23 PM | Can we assume that you won't adapt something that is clearly not Greyhawk? (my presumption is yes) Like the Expedition to Undermountain that is rumored to be coming out? |
| scon4002-09-07, 11:24 PM | If it's set explicitly in Eberron or Forgotten Realms, odds are nearly 100% we would NOT be adapting it. |
| Mortepierre02-10-07, 04:25 AM | Here is what the author (Wolfgang Baur) had to say about it: Yeah, I wrote this one, but unlike Ravenloft, the goal was not to remake Q1. It's a plane-hopping adventure in the Abyss, though, and that's not a bad thing. I was fortunate that I had an advance copy of the Fiendish Codex to work with as well; some of that material shows up in the adventure. Uh, I wrote roughly 140,000 words, and Gwendolyn did 30,000 or so. So, I think that makes it a 224-page hardcover, just like Ravenloft. It covers levels 9 to 12, and has a metric ton of tactical maps, combat breakouts, more than a dozen new monsters. It is filled with creepy evil goodness. Unfortunately, it was written in an incredible hurry, to meet a tough deadline, so those are all the details I can remember.... I forget whether it's completely generic (it's been 7 months since I touched it), but it is a planar adventure, so really, it doesn't require you to go through G1-3 and D1-3 first. There's a nod to Erelhei-Cinlu (since that's the drow city I always default to), but really, it's not about the material plane. It's about the Abyss, and a few other places. In short, while it does include a few nostalgic nods towards GH, it's not GH specific (but neither does it seem to be FR/EB specific) |
| Japangirl02-10-07, 11:29 AM | It's not impossible that it might be adapted, I would guess. I've seen a few adventures take place on other planes, even multiple other planes. |
| Shieldhart9102-11-07, 03:53 AM | It's not the question of planes, Japan: I've seen the work the Circle has done on the ADPs, and to be honest with you: they can simply mark something off here, change a little text here: and it's Greyhawked. There are certain things, however that make it sort of difficult...examples being planar adventurers (or even mundane ones) that revolve around an FR or Eberron campaign plot. That is problematic, and usually if an entire story of an adaptable is centered around something campaign specific? I expect it's getting the boot. Merry christmas =) |
