Hi all,

I'm going to be running my first Living Greyhawk game (and in fact my first RPGA game) this weekend. Several weeks ago I emailed RPGASactioning at Wizards asking for RPGA cards/apps/numbers so I can sign up my players (only one is already a member) and so far I've heard nothing back, and have received nothing in the mail. At this point I'm not very certain that I'll receive the cards in time.

Does anyone out there in LGland have any extra cards they'd be willing to mail my way? If so please PM me for the address.

Thanks, and I'm sorry if I should have looked elsewhere for these- I'm still new to this whole RPGA thing...

Scott.

Where are you in the real world?
Hopefully someone local can assist rather than somebody posting internationally.

Hah. I ordered cards in June, got a reply saying they'll send them soon in July, and am still waiting for the cards.

Ack, I thought I'd filled in that part of the profile, but I guess it didn't take... I'm in Pikeville, Kentucky, USA.

I wouldn't be able to get them to you in time:(
Have you investigated local clubs? There's bound to be a club somewhere near you with RPGA members; or possibly a local rpg shop.
Good luck!

I have- our closest "real" game shops are ~2 hours away, and the only shop that's at all local looked at me like I'm stupid when I said "RPGA". I'm in touch (and fairly good friends) with the Wizards Delegate in Lexington, roughly 2.5 hours away, and he has a nice thick pad... of DCI cards... :(

I've also not been able to turn up much in terms of local clubs, either. I really think there's a good opportunity out here to expand gaming- the local "shop" (which stocks the very core Wizards releases and that's about it) is open to letting me promote events, and possibly even run some events there, but I've not run (or even played) since I moved down here about 3 years ago, and I want to get a couple sessions under my belt with friends to get back in the swing of things and more familiar with the rules before I really get going.

The only good thing is that I am running with friends and some other local acquaintances, so if I can't issue numbers immediately I can still run, and just get the cards to my players and report the event once I get the cards in- I've just heard some horror stories about waiting months or even years for cards, and if that's the case I'll very quickly run out of events I'm allowed to order for (it also messes with my sense of order to leave things outstanding that long...).

You'd think if they were serious about encouraging new players it'd be a little easier to get apps/cards- maybe even have a way for Sr. DM's to create new memberships on the fly for their events...

This is one of the things that's a bit...odd...about the RPGA. I've had RPGA membership cards sent to me by FedEx before and I never asked for them. Others who are trying hard to get them don't see them after long periods of waiting.

There was a good thread about this a while ago in the RPGA HQ forums, if memory serves. I'd go hunt that thread down, as it had some good advice.

If you haven't had an offer, PM me your address and I'll send you some. Not sure if they'll make it in time, but I have a number of them. Just have to find them. I think they are in the kitchen....

When this happens your best bet is to contact your local Triad member and ask whether he knows anybody nearby or willing to snail mail them. I have mailed my share of RPGA cards to locals within Europe...

Another trick to do is schedule an intro mod(you're going to want to do this anyway) - I've found that seems to trigger the 'let's fedex a bunch of RPGA cards to the senior DM' reflex at WotC.

(edit: it is the Living Greyhawk Introductory Adventure option)

I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Here is the story of how I recieved my cards.

January 28, 2007:
Having just returned from a local RPGA event where they didn't have any membership cards, and wanting to start up some activities at Glendon campus anyhow, I send an email to the appropriate address asking for 20 or so. I'd heard that they take a long time to arrive, so I thought it would be much better to order too many than too few.

January 31, 2007
I recieve an email from an RPGA official in reply, asking for my phone number; I had included my address in my original email, but for international shipments, a phone number is required. I don't still have the reply saved; I assume I sent it the same day, so little being required of me.

February 7, 2007
I recieve another email letting me know that 25 membership applications would be 'out to me' in the next couple days.

Today, February 29th, 2008
I recieve in the mail, 6 membership cards. Right now, I wish very much that Europe didn't have laws against collecting information from minors, so that we could just do all this over the internet.

No, I haven't decided what I'm doing with them. One for me, for sure. The other 5 could go to the players in my group and I could start running LG stuff here. Could maybe share RPGA numbers, though that's a bit shady.

It'll be worth it, though, if there's any 4E RPGA material to order, at all, within a reasonable time after 4th Edition is released.

It looks like the two "preview" Living Forgotten Realms adventures (the ones that are being run at DDXP this weekend) will be available for general play starting on June 6th, which is the date that the 4E books are supposed to be released.

Beyond that, expect the actual LFR adventures to start being available after GenCon (August 14-17), since that's where the campaign officially launches.
