| Shieldhart9109-11-06, 06:50 PM | Well, coming on September 23- I'll have the opportunity to play Fane of the Drow, which was highly recommended to me by a friend of mine who already has. Now, before I do play this game- I need to know how many TUs it will cost me. See, I only have 8 TUs left for the charater I want to use- but I also want to play a Year 5 Furyondy Regional that costs 1 TU. By 2007, the Year 5 Furyondy Regional will be forever gone. And yet at the same time, I may not have another chance to play Fane of the Drow. I've signed up, and I'm most likely going to play Fane of the Drow over the Year 5 game. Fane is a 2-round game, so I expect the TUs to be high. How many TUs does it cost normally? Please and thanks. |
| NiTessine09-11-06, 07:24 PM | Fane of the Drow takes 7 TU. Go for it. |
| Shieldhart9109-11-06, 08:22 PM | Well this isn't good...The same date that Fane of the Drow is offered, I have another game with my usual group....I suppose friendship is more important then other things. I can still play Fane of the Drow in 2007, right? Or at least, could I have someone else run it by the end of the year? |
| kenobi6509-11-06, 11:21 PM | I can still play Fane of the Drow in 2007, right? Yup. Retires on 12/31/07. Bookmark this page...this will almost always answer those pesky questions like, "When does X retire?", or "when does Y become available for home play?"... https://events.wizards.com/RPGAWeb/external/scenarios.asp |
| Mithreinmaethor09-12-06, 08:19 AM | Funny that Fane of the Drow has the same exact expiration date as does Red Hand of Doom and it hasnt even been released yet and it is a 51 TU mod. Anyone else find this noy just annoying, but terribly frustrating. And can anyone explain to me why the ADPs cane be played at conventions ? |
| pedr09-12-06, 09:24 AM | I think the reasoning for the second is twofold. Firstly, that a convention requires events which have (at least theoretically) been timed to fit into multiples of 4.5 hours, which the ADPs have not. Some people manage to finish Fane in 6 hours, other groups take 12+. Secondly, each table has to have a copy of the full retail pack and perhaps it was thought that this would be prohibitively expensive for convention organisers. The reasoning for the first problem (RHoD retiring at the end of 07) is less clear but likely has to do with arrangements between the RPGA and Wizards business managers who want to see the product moving now, not in nine months' time. It is very frustrating (and potentially short-sighted) but it's not the first time that such decisions have been made and I'm sure it won't be the last. |
| Shieldhart9109-12-06, 05:26 PM | Red Hand of Doom is a 51 TU mod? What on earth? |
| pedr09-12-06, 05:49 PM | Red Hand of Doom is huge. Some details are here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=9872495&postcount=4 While the other ADPs are adaptations of the 'Fantastic Location' WotC products, Red Hand of Doom is a super-module which is designed to take characters from level 5 or 6 to level 9. The listing in the Wizards catalogue is here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/dndacc/953857400 |
| Shieldhart9109-13-06, 02:58 PM | Sounds crazy. I guess I'll have to have someone else run Fane of the Drow for me. |
