I'm just wondering who everyone's favorite deity is. (nonevil/ingame worshipable ofcourse, so don't say Iuz :D) Why is this deity your favorite. Mine is probably Delleb, because he's a god of magic and study, knowledge is one of his domains and I love taking knowledge skills(fail a trap search check and everyone hates you, noone ever gets mad for you failing a knowledge roll :p) and he's part of a really cool metaorg in my region.

Second, does your region have a really cool church metaorg? What is it? In the Yeomanry we have the Church of 7 Faiths (the divine 7) comprised of the worship of 7 different deities, some from different pantheons. Its a really neat little organization. What does your region have and what deities are popular?

Well, in Verbobonc, St. Cuthbert is the state religion, so, needless to say, the St. Cuthbert metaorg is pretty big.

Other faiths with significant followings (and metaorgs) included Heironeous (which my paladin follows), Rao, Ehlonna, Fharlanghn, Pelor, Pholtus, Trithereon, Zilchus, and "The Old Faith" (Beory, Berei, Ehlonna, & Obad-Hai). We've also got metaorgs for the demihuman pantheons, and an "Itinerant Evangelist" metaorg for clerics of "everybody else."

Our triad is in the process of updating many of our metaorgs to use the Affiliation system, and I think the changes are great...they just released the updated Heironeous metaorg a few days ago, and there's some great stuff in there.

I liked Zagyg.

Would have said Nerull (can be nice to Perrenders) but doesn't seem to be allowed on your list.

Realized I didn't answer the first question.

While I (obviously) have some love for Heironeous, I have always wanted to play a cleric of Wenta. I mean, c'mon, beer for holy water? How cool is *that*?

I really like Gendwar Argrim, even though the Dwarven gods get no love in Ket MetaOrgs (the religious MetaOrgs focus on Baklunish gods).

I'm actually taking part in a Special Mission soon (I think) with a cleric of Istus (Baklunish Lady of the Fates), and I'll be playing my cleric of the Doomed Dwarf. Fate and Doom make for some...interesting interaction.

I get some great RP through Gendwar - I've had to take orc prisoners (when I wanted to kill them), I've had to save a half-orc baby (when I wanted to kill it), and I have played with a half-orc or two (when I... well, you get the idea).

For me, I usually come up with a concept and then find a god to fit that. I've used St. Cuthbert, Ralishaz, Zagyg, some Tuov deity, Moradin, Lyrr, and some others I'm forgetting. I think Ralishaz and Gendwar have some great roleplay flavor.

Don't forget the sizable Vatun (my favorite diety) following in Verbobonc (w/ shrine in Validia); not many true clerics, but a lot of worshippers!

... actually, the best "divine caster" I've ever played worshipped Wee Jas- I don't know if she's my favorite, but she does have a lot of very interesting flavour...

LENDOR! (or as my Lendorian cleric pronounces his name, Lennnn-Doooorrrrr..... :P) God of Time, Tedium, Patience, and Study. Prince of Time, Master of Tedium. Father of the Suel Pantheon.

My cleric of Lendor just completed a special mission fulfilling the pre-requisites for becoming a Contemplative of Lendor - making him the first and only one, as far as I'm aware, in the LG campaign. :D The Duchy of Urnst, the home region for this character, has a great metaorg called the Temple of the Suel Pantheon. The Temple basically preaches that, instead of being worshipped individually, all the lawful/good Suel gods should be worshipped collectively as a whole - with Lendor naturally at their head.

Also a big fan of:
- Istus (I have one Istus worshipper PC who has ranks in Profession: Fortune Telling)
- Wee Jas (love the mishmash of her portfolio: Magic, Death, Law, and Vanity)
- Gendwar Argrim (dwarven hero-god of fatalism)
- Vathris (hero-god of anguish and lost causes)

I think the last two appeal to my emo side. ;)

I don't have a favorite deity. Each of my 8 LG characters worships a different god. I try to find a god that fits the character, and I usually look for one that is not too common. My favorite worship of a deity among my characters is that of my dwarf. He is two levels away from becoming a Holy Liberator of Wenta! That's right, we must free the beer!

Keoland has no state religion. Its a nation that is as religiously tolerant as it is racist. All non-evil religions are free to practice their beliefs except for Tritherion. The meta-org for the churches is just plain vanilla.

There are a lot of deities that are funt o play PCs of, and a lot more that are fun to make NPCs of.
Most popular deities I used (for both PCS and NPCs) were Johydee, Joramy, Zagyg, and Wenta (though not everybody warmed up to Joramy in Here Comes The Sun...).

As a player I had some great RP moments with my cleric of Xan Yae, sort of a non-evil version of Vecna. It got even more fun when one of the first adventures I played actually allowed my character to use that Bluff skill and hat of disguise to pose as a SB agent (the first adventure was Mad God's Key) and because of it actually managed to kill the untiered encounter (well that and a lucky crit). As a DM I seem to be using Pelor and Trithereon more often than not, but to be honest, I never wrote an adventure yet were good aligned religions are important to the plot (that role has been for Hextor and Wastri - and the last can be especially fun).

Gendwar - where else do you find a justification for a Dwarven war cleric to start running with the Keoland Dreadwalkers?

What in Dis else are you people HIDING in that forest? Gendwar's axe, and the cleansing fire of the hearth, are the only things that may save us all!

And don't forgot having instant hatred of a certain Keoland meta-org.... rhymes with Claven :P

And one of my favorite interactions in a module:

Reithal Stonecudgel, Cleric of Gendwar Argrim: Not doing, forget it.

Priest of Pelor: But if you this for me, you will have Pelor's blessing.

Reithal: But my god will ******!

My cleric of Lendor just completed a special mission fulfilling the pre-requisites for becoming a Contemplative of Lendor - making him the first and only one, as far as I'm aware, in the LG campaign. :D

Just curious, but what kind of challenges does a cleric of Lendor have to overcome to meet up with a representative of his god? Sitting in the Celestial waiting room for days until his number comes up? Being forced to sit through all 142 stanzas of the dullest poem ever written by a 1/2 orc bard? Having to memorize said poem? Herding kittens? Trying to explain AOO rules to new adventurers? ;)

My wife has an 11th level paladin of Lendor named Patience (of course). Poor Patience spends much of her time away from the church on a variety of missions because the clergy find her a little too much of a thrill-seeker. Though the Lendor clergy consider her a thrill-seeker, her companions find her a quiet, sweet, patient, not-too-bright young woman who is a bit strange (she talks to her horse, and claims that it talks back to her in her head). The funny part is that it does talk to her telepathically (more than just empathic), and is smarter than she is (the horse is celestial and has an INT of 10, whereas Patience has an INT of 8). And woe unto the next NPC that makes a joke about "having patience".

Heh, my table and I were joking before the game that the special mission would involve sitting around in a meditation chamber in a temple to Lendor for 4 hours (with the players roleplaying it out in real-time, of course :P).

Alas, the writer and the Duchy of Urnst triad figured this would be too boring. ;) The special mission involved my PC receiving a dream from an astral deva of Lendor, who was crying out for help. It was trapped in a temple of Lendor; a bunch of temple raiders had invaded the place, causing a cave-in, and were now torturing the angel to tell them about any secret ways out. So my PC's job was to get to the temple and rescue the angel. Problem was, this place was a long-forgotten, isolated, half-buried temple to Lendor, and no one knew where it was - so the party and I had to do research to find the place. Naturally, we enlisted the help of the Church of Lendor in Leukish to aid us in our research.

Of course, asking a bunch of Lendorians for research assistance is quite the exercise in patience (head priest, first day: "We...have....found...out....this....temp le.....is.....a....rural....one....locat ed....in.....the.....countryside...." Second day: "We.....have.....found.....out.....this.. ...temple......is.....north....of......L eukish....." Third day: well, you get the idea :D)

(I also have a running gag that when I roll a 1 for initiative, I've received "the blessing of Lendor". :P)

It's also very in character for a Gendwar Cleric to want to sunder all the party treasure.

I was once told by two "High Elves" of the Gnarley that "Corellon is the God of everything."

I think my favorite is Moradin because of the RP that the all-Dwarven party I play in has created. Plenty of options to say weighty things and allude everything to forging stuff.

I still have such fond memories of Dude & Dude. Poor Arrias (I mean shining general grand poobah Arrias...congrats on the promotions) having to put up with 4 Gnarley Clan Elves :)

Arafinwe has his hands full with some young Pelorite moving the Hearth! He has been warned that Big A will "cut him down" if he tries to couple with the elven females of the Clan...

LOL. Thank you. I think. ;) Suddenly, Arrias has titles coming out the wazoo.

As for that module...as frustrating as it was IC for Arrias, it was a whole lot of fun to play.
